Solid stay overall. Maybe the most unique Residence Inn Hotel that I’ve ever stayed in, certainly different in comparison to the U.S. its inside of a mall, ideal for business travel and for families.
The location was great, close to the multi plaza mall and walking distance to Super 99, Coffee Max, and Cinta Costera is just under a mile away. The food could use some improvement, a little pricey.. service was very slow.
Housekeeping does a nice job just know they don’t provide dishwashing soap, you have to pick some up on your own at the 99 across the way.
Nightly rate was reasonable (more on this later). The pool was nice, towels are provided. Views are fantastic. There is a clinic connected which is convenient, but know that they will charge you a $300 deposit for your visit and either charge you the difference or credit you back based on the treatment rendered. A public clinic such as Mar del Sur will only charge you a $15 consultation fee.
So why only two stars? Aside from the cons mentioned. I reserved two rooms well in advance via the BonVoy app for 3 nights at just under $700. I had to call to get my final invoice because they never provided a copy.
The Hotel charged me the rate that was available at the time of my stay not the rate from the time of my booking. This added an extra $100+ to my bill.
The Hotel also disn’t honor the e-gift of $250 that Marriott sent me for being a valued member even though at the time of check in they said they would.
Now I’m having to call and get the run around for something that should’ve been handled correctly the first time. This is one of my biggest pet peeves with Hotels and a deciding factor for never staying again.
Once I’m done with my stay, I need to move on with life and not have to deal with a mishandled invoice. Residence Inn dropped the ball and I’m still dealing with this almost two weeks later. Quick a recap.
I reserved both rooms in advance to take advantage of the lower rate. The Hotel disregarded my reservation and charged the current higher rate. Still waiting for my refund.
The Hotel said they would honor the e-gift I received from Marriott of $250. The discount was never received. They asked later if I still wanted to use it. SMH
Almost two weeks later and no reward points have been Issued for my two bookings.
Though its not my favorite Hotel in Panama, I will say it’s still a solid Hotel overall. My two star rating is more a reflection the poor service received during my stay. It’s reason enough for me to...
Read moreWe were so excited for our first family trip to Panama, but unfortunately we made the mistake of staying at the Residence Inn, which repeatedly messed up our trip. As a longtime Platinum elite member, we usually stay in Marriott properties, and Residence Inn with its extra space and kitchen facilities is one of our favorites, but this one was a disaster. ||At check-in, I mentioned my Platinum status and requested an upgrade to an ocean view room. Even though ocean view rooms were available on their website for the entire duration of our stay, my request was denied. I also mentioned the need for a room with 2 beds in addition to the couch since we were traveling with kids, but when we got to the room, we found that it had only 1 bed. ||When I called the front desk to ask about changing rooms, nobody answered, which was an ongoing issue throughout our stay. We needed wake-up calls on two different mornings for early tour pick-ups, but whenever we called the front desk to try to set them up, nobody answered, and one that we went down to the front desk to arrange in person never came through, which made us late to one of our tours.||We also had a major issue with the safe in the room, which we were counting on to store our passports and other important valuables. The safe did not work at all, and the maintenance man sent to repair it was unable to fix it, even after we spent one hour of our vacation waiting with him in the room.||Additionally, the room was freezing, and attempts to raise the thermostat to warm up the room were unsuccessful, and the shower had no hot water and very low water pressure.||Even worse, our attempts to bring all these issues to their attention were simply responded to with a short generic cut-and-paste apology letter from Ferdinando Villalaz, the Operations Supervisor, and attempts to respond to him have simply been ignored, confirming our impressions during our stay that this property doesn't understand the meaning of...
Read moreMy husband and I want to thank the staff at the Residence Inn Panama City Panama. Our stay exceeded our expectations. We were beyond please of the cleanliness of the property and the attention to detail to the guests needs. I personally want to thank a few members that I felt went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and welcoming. Our first thank you is to the front desk staff member Efrain. He checked us in early and assured that our room meet our requests. Very humble and was available for our questions and concerns. Please extend my thanks to our housekeeper Enelda. The queen of housekeepers! She not only left our space cleaned and organized, daily she genuinely always checked on our needs and made us feel like family visiting in the home. The room had everything we needed. It was set up like a large studio apartment. The SUPER 99 store across the street is affordable and has everything you can need. Has stock of local products and some items that are in common in the US. We stocked our fridge with beverages and snacks to avoid having to use the store in the reception area. Another staff member we want to acknowledge is the restaurant manager Maximo and his staff. The breakfast staff was very friendly and the variety of food was well prepared and displayed. Be on time before 10am to get the full breakfast buffet! If you wanted something that is not on the buffet line, just ask they certainly will have it. The hotel is attached to the Pacific center that also has a mini mall with fancy stores, food court with healthy options and comfort food, and supermarket that meets the Kosher needs. Rooftop pool small but well worth the view, especially in the evening with the breeze and city lights. My husband was a fan of the gym with the options of the equipment that meets his workout needs. I would highly recommend and would return...
