Hostel El Gobernador — Hotel in Arequipa

I was going to write 0 stars, but unfortunately 1 star is the lowest I can go. My friend and I checked in as travelers the morning of, as it was convenient for our price range in the center of Arequipa. It wouldn’t be until 5 minutes later that we realized just how bad of a mistake that was.

The rooms themselves looked clean at first, but it was everything around the rooms that soured the experience. First of all, the wifi. The hostel itself is surrounded by concrete calls, so my data plan only for 1 Mb/s. with 3 Mb/s on a good amount of time. It wasn’t stable at all, so I used the wifi, hoping for better. Nope. There were times it would go from 3-5 Mb/s, but a lot of the time the Wifi went as low as 0.1 Mb/s, so slow I couldn’t even run a wifi test or search how to speed up my connection.

Next the toilet. I went to use it and the first thing I saw was a giant puddle on the floor. The valve in the toilet was leaking. That was the second red flag. It wasn’t that bad until we told the staff and their reaction was to take out a mop and wipe the floor, look at the toilet container and leave. They said wait a minute and it’d be fine. What they didn’t tell us was that their “fix” was to TURN OFF the flushing system without clarifying it, so the next morning I peed in the toilet and it wouldn’t flush. Honestly it would have been more hygienic to pee in the sink because that was the only thing working at that point.

Needless to say, after these experiences we wanted to change hostels and get our money back, but the owner refused. So we slept in, knowing that we’d only have to get through one night at this place.

Some other things I noticed before we left: there were no trash cans in the room, the floors under the bed looked like they hadn’t been cleaned for months, and there were trash bags on the floor...

Muy mala mi experiencia!!! No recomiendo este hotel porque son unos estafadores....tuve que hospedarme en ese lugar por salud de mi hijo ....me pidieron garantía porque alquile por tres meses...al final la señora Jessica giuliana macutela pacho así se llama la encargada... nunca me devolvió mi garantía...y es verdad lo que dicen en los comentarios anteriores te inventan cualquier cosa para quedarse con la garantía....son unos sinvergüenzas. No me devolvieron mis 750 de garantía... no tuvieron ninguna consideración por mi niño enfermo.....muy mal trato. Baños en mal estado y las camas ni hablar....los alumnos que alquilan por meses deben tener cuidado..ya saben que no les devolverán su...

Es un lugar tranquilo; sin embargo la atención es pésima. La señora de todo quiere sacar plata. El cuarto es algo antiguo. Les recomiendo que antes de ingresar tomen fotos y le recuerden como lo están recibiendo porque la señora encargada (de nombre Jessica) es tan pendenciera que buscará echarles la culpa por algún desperfecto. Por otro lado, tienen un restaurante con una comida desabrida, minúscula y con un precio de S/11 que no justifica. Si caminan más para la plaza encuentran platos a S/10 y mejor servidos. No...
