Hotel Colomba — Hotel in Independencia

The initial signs were promising, beautiful gardens and a quite calming atmosphere. The rooms were basic and the shower was in a state of decay. Getting hot water was an involved affair (despite there seeming to be one other couple in the hotel) with a long wait and frequent periods where the hot water cut out. The beds were hard and the towls scratchy. The Wi-Fi did not reach to our room and only worked (just about) in reception. ||||Breakfast was mixed with stale bread and cearal, and bowls that were so small an anorexic person would have considered the portions dainty. The juice and eggs however were very good. ||||The manager was a nincompoop, who was quick to anger as minor disagreement between us and him proved. He descended into shouting at us whilst we kept civil and cancelled out reservation for the rest of our stay at the hotel. ||||In conclusion; we may have had a bad experience but I would not take the chance...

One of the best accommodations we had in Peru! The place is very calm with a lot of greenery, the rooms are very spacious, the bathroom was also very large and everything was clean(!!). In the fridge we even have two local beers to try. The hotel manager is super kind and helpful, but all the personnel was very nice. We didnt understand why people talk so much about breakfast when reviewing, but then we realized. It was amazing! The variety, the taste…the fresh buns and I think the best carrot cake of my life! The place even has a small gym with a bike, rowing machine, few weights and a bench. We also used the garden in front of it for some yoga to enjoy the calm morning before jumping to the honking...

I recommend everything about Hotel Colomba!||This is my first visit to Peru, and we are staying in Huaraz as the base of a 6week trekking holiday.||The hotel is very well located near the centre of the busy town but, due to the high walls and large area of beautiful gardens, it truly feels like a quiet oasis.||The rooms are meticulously clean, the service friendly and outstandingly helpful (we had a small medical issue while here and the owner/manager Lucio could not have been more helpful in sorting out where to go and who to see).||We look forward to returning here in future and heartily recommend the Hotel...
