The hostel is cheap of course but don’t even the basic to stay comfortable: at check-in they pretend to give me an higher level room at the 4th floor but very old (omg with moquette and old heavy blanket!) where the windows had large drafts and it was very cold (on Aug. 14° C. degrees humid!), bathroom without hot water and no hairdryer.|Finally they moved me at the 2nd floor in a smaller but renewed room.|Also this room was an igloo and the don’t have any air conditioner or heating that it’s unbelievable during the Peruvian winter. The only way to protect yourself from the cool coming from the draft in the window is the curtain (unbelievable).|Finally only few days before leaving they provide for an electric stove and goes even better.|The room overlooking the inner wall with noise on the night for the tv of the owner of the hotel and as early as 6.00 am because the staff start preparing the “breakfast” under-stair.|Yes the breakfast is really poor but the staff try to be kind preparing scramble eggs...but not their fault if the owner skimp on breakfast!|The bathroom are old and narrow with just two old towels but an hairdryer.|The cleaning staff is gentle and try to do is best.|The pics of booking and website are very old and not update. |Every time you leave the hotel they have to open manually the main-door and coming back you have to ring the bell of the first gate so you’ve to wait alone outside that is not good especially in the night (dangerous for pickpockets and thief).|At least Wi-Fi works well.|Definitely they have to enhance to be an average hostel or is not recommended coz is better to go in another place may be spending a little much but staying...
Read moreThis hostal offers the amenities you'd expect to find in a major hotel, at the price of a small hostel. The hot water and water pressure were excellent. There was a refrigerator stocked with bottled water, soap and shampoo, plenty of towels, hangers, outlets, etc. and a decent breakfast. My room was small but clean and comfortable.||||A Peruvian breakfast at hotels is usually just juice, coffee, and bread with butter and jam, but here they also served eggs. Since I don't eat eggs they gave me some cheese and kalamata olives instead. Most Peruvian bread is tasteless and boring, almost like a pita, but Kontiki's was light, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside; I actually enjoyed it. They had two kinds of fresh juice each morning. ||||Kontiki is on a residential street, but there is a bread bakery/mini-market right across the street and a few restaurants on Av. Espinar one block west, and most importantly the great supermarket Vivanda three blocks south on Av. Jose Pardo, all of which close at 11pm or earlier. If you want a drink past 11, try the Beatles-themed Liverpool Bar on Av Grau and Calle Berlin, 4 blocks south and one block east. Party people might find Kontiki a bit withdrawn from the heart of Miraflores, which is centered in Kennedy Park, a good ten blocks away. But's a great location if you like it quiet.||||Don't forget to pick up some canned cat food to feed the cats at...
Read moreThe hotel is comfy, the service is very personalized, and the hotel is very well located, just a two blocks from Pardo and one from Comandante Espinar, which makes this place very well located if you want to walk around to Ovalo Gutierrez (5 blocks) and have movie, dinner, coffee in several places or if you want to go to the main square of Miraflores (6 blocks) with all their stores and places to visit. Larcomar is a few blocks more and we use to walk there too. This is located in a very safe area, and you even have a small bodega in front, a pharmacy two blocks away, if you want to go and get anything at last minute and bring to your room. I really liked the convenience and the attention of the people in the hotel.||||The continental breakfast is good and fresh, the hotel is very peaceful and quiet, a good place to rest and recharge. It is decorated with Peruvian motives, and the rooms are beautiful, clean with running hot water. ||||We stay in a bedroom with one queen bed, view to the street, cable TV, and small refrigerator. We really liked and we spend a lot...
