This was my first time in Peru and I really enjoyed my stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They are very knowledgable about the surrounding area and can give great recommendations. The location couldn't be better. Very close to many attractions and within walking distance to almost everything you need, including a grocery store to buy water! There are literally 10 or more restaurants on the same block as the hotel. You can book tours in the lobby of the hotel, which is convenient.
Why 3 stars? Well, when we booked online the stay was supposed to be approx. $1100 CAD. The bank called us to say that they wanted to make sure we were travelling to Peru and that this wasn't a fraudulent charge, and told us that the charge will go through after confirming. When we got to the hotel, the charge never went through and we had to pay a 10% extra for a "service fee". I believe that most hotels charge a service fee in Peru, but it just seems odd that had the online booking worked, there wouldn't have been one. Also, there is no bathroom fan. This might seem silly to complain about, but when you take a hot shower the entire room is incredibly humid. Maybe it's the North American in me, but it seemed very odd to have no bathroom fan. The hotel has sound proof windows, but the interior of the hotel is not sound proof. There is a club attached to the hotel (I don't recommend going) and you can hear the music going all night. You can hear your neighbour sneeze through the walls. The lobby is an atrium and the hallways to the rooms look down on the lobby, so when its busy downstairs you hear...
Read moreI just had the pleasure of visiting Lima with my 92year old mom, so that we could celebrate her birthday with family and friends. The hotel is in perfect location, the rooms are clean, the breakfast had great choices!! The fresh orange juice was amazing. The quality of the service from the hotel personnel was just amazing! The persons that cleaned our room for 8 days, all the porters, doormen, reception desk, I thank you all for making such a special stay for my mom and I. The colors of the hotel were a bit dark and old but it did not take away at all from how special the people that work there are. We felt respected, cared for, and attended in every way. That street used to be very quiet full of quaint little stores, now it is full of pubs and clubs for the younger crowd with music until 6am. Although we could hear the music every night, it really did not bothered us that much. I would stay there in a bit for its service and location. Thank you to everyone at the Faraona...
