Kaiyo - Sushi, Ramen & Cocktails — Restaurant in Lima Metropolitan Area

This could've been a great sushi/Japanese restaurant, but there are some things that didn't make any sense. First of all, why is there an employee dog inside the restaurant walking around and sniffing on the customers' legs while we are eating? That dog even went inside the kitchen like nothing happened. That dog was just walking around the restaurant like it was it's home. That's unacceptable inside a restaurant. Dog hair on our food? Anyone? Another thing, they were playing Reggae music... Do they know anything about a concept? This is a Japanese restaurant, not a Jamaican/Caribbean one. Last but not least, the tv screen was showing a soccer game, and the employees were watching it instead of being focused on their jobs and attending the tables. It was a mess. It looked like a bunch of youngsters trying to run a restaurant while the boss was out or...

The food came out very very slow, even though 2 of us were the only people at the restaurant around 5pm. Too many things on the menu were either fried or contained fried ingredients. Rice wasn't cooked right. It tasted like it didn't soak enough and didn't simmer properly. The rice was packed too tight in the rolls. The best thing we had was onigiri, because the rice was not packed too tight. Gunkan maki was too small. The fish and shellfish was fresh. The waitress was inattentive and clueless. She touched the top of our serving plates and she also touched the tips of my chopsticks, which was very weird. The servers need proper training. No smile at all. I have worked in sushi restaurant as waiter and chef...

The staff was very nice and helpful. The venue is pretty small but has a nice vibe and is well decorated and clean.

But their food... I got the pork ramen and it was pretty bad. I didn't have their rolls. I definitely wouldn't recommend this place.

The soup had a pretty basic flavor. I'd didn't share any of the pork flavor in the broth. Almost no noddles. It felt like some pretty generic miso soup that you get as free sample elsewhere with eggs and seaweed added.

Maybe this would have been OK for 1/3 of the prices, but I'm not...
