While planning our time at Lima, we decided on just a night here. Although an Mgallery Collection, being an older property in a rather uninteresting location made us initially hesitant. Its reviews were neither that detailed nor highlighted anything special. I was glad to be proven wrong. As an Accor Platinum, I was hoping for an upgrade. However, many hotels in this part of the world do not seem to have a habit of responding to guest emails. In this case, I got a response about 3 days later from Xiomara Nuñez, the Front Office Manager. I had emailed the listed GM. She just mentioned an upgrade and a possibility of an early check-in.||We arrived early from the Pullman at Miraflores after a rather average stay there. As our Uber dropped us at the front porch there was no one in view to help us with our luggage. So we hauled them inside all by ourselves where we found Shirley at the check-in desk. She was definitely not expecting us early, but offered to try and upgrade us to a suite later in the day. As there was no lounge we enquired about the breakfast which we were initially told to be not complimentary. On reminding of our Platinum status, eventually she confirmed breakfast after discussing with her supervisor.||The top-floor room initially allotted was a standard one with a view of the street below. We met Christian, the rooms division manager who actually promised to upgrade us to the "best room of the hotel" once its guests checked out. As we had a full day of activities planned we left our luggage in the first room. Once we returned late in the evening we directly went to our upgraded room: the Executive Suite #701. We were pleasantly surprised to see this old-school hardwood floor suite, which would be perhaps referred to a junior suite today. It still had all the amenities. On entrance there was a mini kitchen with a built-in hotplate, a microwave, a chimney, a basin and the minibar which had an illy espresso machine and the supplies. The living area had a 3-seat sofa and a longish stool with a coffee table in between. Next, near the window there was a round dining table with two chairs. There was a partition between the living area and the bedroom which had the suite's only television that could be swivelled to either side. The bed was an extra large king which was very comfortable. The wooden headboard and the end tables were integrated which continued to the ceiling. There was also a glass-topped working desk with a reasonable chair. A small passage with wardrobes along its entire length led to the bathroom. This was an old-style three fixture bathroom that had a combination shower and tub. The tub may have a jacuzzi but we couldn't test it. Welcome amenities were a plated desert, some other goodies and a hand written card from the front desk.||Because of our early check-out next morning we only had a few hours in our suite. So we initially planned for a room-service dinner. But once our welcome drink was delivered to our room we decided to do the dinner at the Saya restaurant from where the drink came. It was easily one of the best Pisco sours during our entire trip and definitely the best in a hotel. Both the service and food at Saya were very good. We started with the papas nativas huancaina, then had their signature ceviche and finished with the crispy (concolón) rice with seafood. Everything tasted excellent, especially their interpretation of the ceviche and each dish was very nicely presented. Their breakfast was another elaborate affair which even had a made-to-order a-la-carte menu. I ordered their version of chicharron which took a while to come but was a very good cut of tasty pork rind. I now wish we had a day more to explore more of their breakfast menu.||The check-out was quick. In short, food and service-wise Manto easily beats some of the newer, more well-known hotels around. Now if only we had this information beforehand or at least had a good initial connect with...
Read moreTerrible experience , stay away !! As a seasoned traveler accustomed to premium hospitality, I must express my disappointment with the lackluster experience at this establishment. It is regrettable, albeit not unexpected, that a representative from the hotel felt compelled to respond to my review without addressing the core issues during my four-day stay.
Firstly, my attempts to communicate with the hotel a month prior to my arrival via email, requesting a consistent room for two consecutive reservations, went unanswered. Despite a follow-up call a week before my trip, assuring me of standard procedures, the reception upon my arrival revealed a disorganized customer service system. The fact that my request was disregarded, coupled with the denial of any record of my prior contacts even after presenting evidence, is indicative of a significant service lapse.
The subsequent room transfer, which required persistent effort on my part, resulted in a subpar accommodation reminiscent of a cramped storage space rather than a room befitting the advertised star rating. Basic amenities like a safe or an iron were conspicuously absent, leading to inconveniences such as the inability to have my room serviced for the duration of my stay due to security concerns. The offer to store valuables in a questionable “hotel safe” only added to the absurdity of the situation.
Despite these shortcomings, it is worth noting the favorable aspects of the hotel, including its prime location and the courteous demeanor of the breakfast staff. However, these positives are overshadowed by the fundamental failure in delivering the expected standards of a boutique hotel experience, especially in terms of customer service.
While the hotel may come recommended by online platforms and acquaintances, including a music producer friend, the allure of chic decor and boutique ambiance is marred by inconsistent room quality and, more critically, a deficiency in attentive customer care. For those seeking a genuine 4 or 5-star experience, this establishment falls short and may be...
Read moreThis was the first time I stayed at this property, but have been to Lima many times. I usually stayed at the same hotel, time after time. I decided to shake it up a bit and I AM GLAD I DID!
It is a wonderful, little, boutique property. The staff is extremely friendly and go the extra kilometer in regards to service.
From the point of check-in, to checking out, I had a great stay. Maykol, Hector, Erik, and the rest of the staff are amazing. They made my stay extremely memorable. It's really nice to be on a first name basis with almost everyone in the hotel by the time you check out.
The room I had was very nice sized and very comfortable all around. I was on a higher floor, I had a nice sofa and desk. The room is well appointed with a lot of access to outlets in good places. The bed was extremely comfortable and the shades and curtains were very good at blocking out the sun. Also the HVAC system was really nice and worked really well. I know it sounds weird that I mention that but I couldn't tell you how many times I've stayed at a property where it's like a jet engine turning on.
The bar and the restaurant are wonderful. One of the best pisco sours in all of Lima. And if you want to be adventurous have Maykol or Erik come up with something for you. Also their food is wonderful in the restaurant and goes really well with all of their pairings.
Another thing I want to mention are the breakfast in the morning. They're very delicious and have everything available for you and are accommodating in the morning. I am generally not a good morning person and they were all really nice all through the day.
I highly recommend this property for people to come stay either for business or for pleasure. The service is wonderful, the staff are warm and caring and the property is immaculately clean.
The staff definitely makes this hotel a five-star even though it's listed as a four-star. Thank you for a wonderful stay I'll be seeing you again in...
