I have booked for one night to stay at Hotel Taypikala Machupicchu in Aguas Calientes before we go up to Machu Picchu the next morning. However, once we arrived in town by PeruRail & talked to the girl who greeted us at the exit, we were told that there was a water / flooding issue at Hotel Taypikala so they arranged us to stay at Hatun Inti instead.
Hatun Inti is much more convenient in terms of its location from the main souvenir market & the train station - and it’s super close to town center - super walkable to Main Square & the main bus stop (that you can take the bus up to Machu Picchu, which we did)
The staff was super friendly & helpful - there are free hot & cold water machine & various tea bags (coca, green tea etc.) in the lobby. Super cute & nice decor. They also provide free breakfast with the stay - there were not too many options though, but it was a nice light one that’s free.
The room they upgraded us to (because of the flood situation) was super nice & stunning - with a hot tub in the bathroom (bathing salt & bubble bath provided). Super spacious & cute on the top floor (6th floor), and with a small balcony that looks over the river.
I highly recommend Hatun Inti for anyone going to Machu Picchu! High value with its location & comfort level & staff...
Read moreDon’t reccomend. We made a reservation on April, 2018, and everything was ok. We even received an e-mail on the next day we booked telling us that the reservation was booked and that they were waiting for us. So, we came to Peru from Brazil by car, travelled two days, with two Kids and a 69 year old grandpa. When we finally arrived at the train station at Macchu Picchu, a very gentle guy from the hotel took us to the Hatun Inti. When we got there, tired, kids crying and needed to sleep and eat, the woman said that our reservation was cancelled 10 minutes before we came. And that we coudnt stay there. Well, we coudnt believe that. We stayed at the main room for almost two hours trying to understand and find a reason. While other gests were arriving and taking a room. That was really disappointing. They cancelled our reservation to give place to someone that arrived before us. That’s really untrusting. The two woman of the reception just didn’t care and kept saying they had nothing to do about that. End of the story: they didn’t do anything for us, nothing to help us. We started to look for other places, all the hotels were full. So we went to Sumaq, where they were full, but they did everything to help us. And we finally got the nicest...
Read moreThe location of hotel is perfect that it's right next to the souvenir market and bus station to Machu Picchu. Our room has river view which is just amazing. However the river view comes with scary mosquitos/sand flies armies. We found a lot of blood-like stain or some dead bugs on our beds while checking in, got our bed sheet changed after some communication. Thanks to the young girl at reception, she's very sweet and helpful. Wish I took her name.
At night we already made sure shutting the door and window properly and didn't open but bugs still manage to come in from the door slip or toilet vent or somewhere I don't know. My two night stay were sleepless due to the crazy bugs even though I used a lot of insect repellent spray. I know it's natural and It's very common in Aguas Calientes and Machu Picchu. But I just wish the hotel provide mosquito lamp in every room or something useful.
Other than this issue, hotel facility is great for its value. Staffs are friendly. Breakfast is good too, and starts early enough before our Machu...
