Worst experience in my whole life. ||What happened was I booked Hatuchay Inn but it was revoked by Hatuchay Inn. I was transferred to Angie's Hostel that seemed to be operated by the relatives without any explanation. I think Hatuchay Inn was simply full. ||||I booked this place via Booking.com, one night for one person including full board meal with a message of my arrival time because it was expected around 9-10pm. ||||When I arrived at Hatuchay Inn around 9:30pm, the restaurant portion was already closed. There were two ladies and one kid. It seemed grandmother, daughter and granddaughter. The daughter was the only one who spoke little English. ||When I told her I have a reservation, she was so surprised and asked me to show the voucher. (She didn't look for their own reservation notes or data base) Thanks to Booking.com, there was a Spanish version so she must fully understand what reservation I made. Unfortunately she read only the first part I guess though. ||||She told me someone in charge will be coming. While waiting for someone, the grandmother and daughter had a conversation in Spanish. I didn't understand but the daughter's answer was "booking.com" so I guess grandma wanted to know how I booked. Their expression was like “oh I see..” There was no guilty at all. I felt booking.com wasn’t a source for booking for them. ||||Another lady came. She spoke far better English. She asked me what I want to do for the breakfast, either eating at the dining room or making a box. I chose the box and set a pickup time at 5:30. Then she asked me to follow me. We went out of the restaurant, walked about one block. While waking she repeatedly asked me to leave my luggage at the restaurant tomorrow morning. Then we arrived to the hostel named “Angie's Hostel". ||||At the front desk, she again confirmed the breakfast box at 5:30, leaving my luggage at the restaurant, not here. Then she gave a room key to a boy who worked there. He took me to the room upstairs, gave me a key, then left. The room has a private bathroom but Angie’s is just a bit better ranked hostel than the backpacker's dormitory style. The room couldn’t be compatible with Hatuchay Inn. I should complain at this point, but I was too tired. ||||Next morning, I went to Hatuchay Inn to pick up my breakfast and leave my luggage. There was no breakfast prepared. Hatuchay Inn is a restaurant at the first floor so it was just a open space with entrance door unlocked, and there was nowhere I could leave my luggage. (of course, there was no one there). I went back to Angie’s Hostel. A boy slept in the sofa, so woke him up and asked where I should leave my luggage. He told me to leave it behind the check in counter, so I did and lined up for the bus to Machu Picchu. ||||After I was back from Machu Picchu, I picked up my luggage at Angie’s and had a huge discussion with the lady from Angie’s Hostel in Hatuchay Inn. What she told me was that 1. “Hatuchay Inn and Angie’s Hostel are the same, so my booking was guaranteed as promised and the service was provided, 2. sorry for breakfast but they tried their best to serve me. Even at this point, Hatuchay Inn didn’t seem to search my booking reference on their booking management notes or database. I was seriously mad, couldn’t accept anything she said. In the end, she gave up to get money from me. By the way, we talked in Hatuchay Inn but no one from Hatuchay Inn joined our talks. They simply ignored me from the beginning to the end, and just pushed me to the lady who managed Angie’s hostel. ||||Hatuchay Inn’s management for bookings from booking.com is not treated properly and seriously. Hatuchay Inn should be blamed for it, and definitely not trustable. If you simply walk in, and ask for a room, then it may be fine, but DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE via BOOKING.COM or...
Read moreHotel is minutes from train station. Easy to find. 20 meters to bus for machu picchu. We rented two rooms. One room (402) had not hot water, but other room (403) had hot water. Would not recommend 302 as bathroom dark and out dated. No tap on cold water. I do not think the room was cleaned as there was used soap from previous people in bathroom. Room 403 was updated and much better. WIFI was very poor or non existent. Host was very helpful in getting us a hair dryer and kettle. They allowed us to store luggage until train back to Cuzco. Had no issues with storage. Currently construction going on which could create some noise issues for light sleepers. Some nice views of mountains, once you look above next buildings. No lift so have to carry luggage up stairs. Property will assist. I do not believe there is any heat or A/C but we did not require either during last...
Read moreI realize this is a cheap hotel (80 soles for two beds in a room), but I have stayed in hostels all over the world and have never been in one so dirty. The shower was not clean, not the sink, so who knows when they’ve cleaned the toilet (there was dust all over it). There was someone else’s hair in the soap bar...a lot of it. When I expressed my concern, they did send a man up to clean, and when I returned it looked the same except I’d been left with no soap at all. Oh, and the water in the shower is freezing. ||I had just finished the Incan trail, so was it better than sleeping in a tent at 14,000 feet above sea level? Sure. But don’t go here without your own soaps. I stayed in the Eco Lodge the following night. More expensive, but...
