My recent visit to Chef House had both positive and concerning aspects that I’d like to share.
Let’s start with the positives - the restaurant offered an impressive selection of dishes, and the atmosphere was delightful. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, making it an enjoyable place to dine.
The menu featured a wide variety of options, and the presentation of the food was impeccable. The flavors were mostly delicious, and it seemed like a promising culinary experience.
However, unfortunately, our dining experience took a severe turn for the worse. Within two hours of leaving the restaurant, my wife fell seriously ill. We rushed her to the hospital, where she was diagnosed with Salmonella and an amoeba parasite.
This was an extremely distressing situation and raised significant concerns about food safety and hygiene practices at the restaurant. We suspect that the illness may have resulted from the food consumed at Chef House.
While I understand that food-related illnesses can happen, it’s essential for a restaurant to prioritize the health and well-being of its guests. I hope Chef House takes this matter seriously and takes appropriate measures to ensure such incidents are prevented in the future.
As much as I wanted to give a glowing review for the pleasant ambiance and diverse menu, the health issue overshadows the positive aspects of our experience. For now, I cannot wholeheartedly recommend Chef House until I’m confident that food safety is taken more seriously.
I sincerely hoped that our experience was an isolated incident but I have seen similar reviews on them and the necessary steps needs to be taken to prevent such occurrences in the future.
Please take care and stay vigilant...
Read moreDon’t go. The food may be pretty but it does not taste how it looks. The food is 2-4x the price it should be, especially for what you get. And worst - nothing really wows you. Everything from the service to the meals is just average. You're better off trying a different place around here. Don’t let the name fool you - there are no real “chefs” in this kitchen.
The dishes were disappointing. The potatoes seemed like they were just boiled and tossed with some dull yellow sauce. Also, the potatoes were so salty, it was hard to eat them. The pizza felt like a premade base (still doughy) with cheddar cheese thrown on top. And the pumpkin soup didn’t taste like pumpkin at all - it was mostly cheesy. I will say that the food was delivered very pretty and that is the one good thing they have going for them. They also offer enough water so that’s good as well.
There was no music playing during our meal until about the last five minutes and then they turned them on.
And the meal was 190 sol which is insane because we stayed at a five star hotel and had some of the best food I had in my life, for half the price.
The food also took 40 minutes to arrive and there were only like five other guests in the restaurant. And our waiter didn’t seem to like her job very much.
I’d go to one of the other four restaurants on either side of it that all share the...
Simplemente no sabia a chicha. ——————
I am giving this place few stars for the following reasons: Note: it is the opinion of me and the people who accompanied me and gave their opinion on the following. Regarding the kitchenware, the cutlery was not very clean. I had to clean and remove residue stuck in a spoon. And that of my entire family. Also, the napkin holder was splattered with some food and perhaps was not checked. When we saw the menu, we realized that the prices are quite high and we know that this place (Aguascalientes or Machupicchu Pueblo) lives and is due to tourism. But it is an exaggeration to sell a small jug of chicha morada for 40 soles that barely fills two large glasses and the worst of all is that it does not have the flavor of authentic chicha morada. It just didn't taste like chicha. It is a scam on all tourists and stealing from them. The jug is miniature and the glasses are huge. Symmetrically it doesn't look good. It would be better to sell a glass well filled and with the true flavor. Only two people in my family ate meat. One beef and one alpaca. It had no salt and they were very simple. I ate an Andean chupe, which seemed very light and not at all forceful. It was just vegetables and a little quinoa. I gave the waitress's service 4 stars, she was understanding of our displeasure. Regarding the atmosphere, we feel that in reality they only paint the food very well and sell it as exquisitely good, the truth is that the prices do not seem fair to me with the quality and taste of the food. We left with an unpleasant feeling of having to pay a lot of money and still wanting to eat somewhere else. We hope that they improve the quality and taste of their food in accordance with the prices they charge. I have paid the same amount of money elsewhere but I would be happy to return if it...
