We stayed here while visiting Machu Picchu and stayed for two nights. During this time, the towels did not dry at all as there was no air circulation in the room. The windows were single panes of glass so it was quite loud through the night. The curtains were also not hung in a way that covered the full windows. ||We did return to the hostel on a few occasions where the foyer was in darkness and there was a member of staff (or a friend of the staff) asleep on the sofa. There was also no handle on the outer door of the hostel so you had to be let in each time. I can see that for any young or lone travellers, this could potentially feel daunting or intimidating. ||It was useful that the breakfast was available so early to allow an early exit to get up to Machu Picchu however it was pretty basic - bread, ham, cheese and maybe a couple of other things. ||If you are looking to stay somewhere on a budget and are not fussed about the place then this hostel could be suitable but if you would like any kind of comfort I would probably suggest looking elsewhere and paying...
Read moreThe staff were really young and glued to their smart phones, hence they forgot that 2 lights in the room were not working and had to be changed, they forgot to tell us that the water was not running, they forgot to prepare the packed breakfast they had promised to had ready early in the morning so we could go trekking... On top of that, the water was borderline cold (not a pleasant experience that's for sure), the building is not finished so parts are still under construction, the bathroom was noisy from dripping faucets and stinking of humidity and then the cherry on the cake: when we went to pay the exchange rate they did was extortionate (if your booking is in USD, expect to pay a lot more in Soles that you would expect anywhere else) so I complained (to no avail) they told us they would give us the change the next day because they didn't have there, and the next day they recalculated the cost and gave us even less change! And guess what I came across, as another reviewer tells, we only got attitude and bad manners back. I...
Read moreWe booked for two nights, to be able to do machupichu and not to rush back same day. When we arrived we had to wait 30 min. for someone to come to reception to make the check-in. Room was ok, bed very comfortable, good working desk, flat screen tv, hot water but very humid bathroom however. Breakfast (included) was poor, WiFi was so slow, almost non existent so we used our mobile internet (worked just fine, good signal). |Their attitude was poor - we had to ask twice to make the room before we were going out to machupichu we asked them, but when coming back they did not clean the room, and said it’s “too late” now.. even though we asked 6 hours before. This was ridiculous. |Payment also did not run smoothly - they said credit card machine was not working, I wanted to pay cash (soles=local currency) they wanted to calculate an exchange rate (from USD) which was 8% more the official rate, so I paid...
