I just want to say my experience at this café made me feel if I was being cared by a father or grandfather figure. I came down with an awful stomach bug the night before keeping me well occupied in the bathroom. Unfortunately when checkout rolled around the next morning it took all my energy to pack up and walk down the street (checkout at 1100 - train at 1400) stumbling my way into this café. I purchased ginger ale and water as that was all I could stomach. I was using their bathroom frequently and just in so much distress of the situation. THEN it got worse I felt the urge to vomit causing me to run barely making it to the toilet where I hunched over at the waist to release the vomit. Now here is where I felt shame as I am very tall and the backsplash of excess water and vomit landed on the floor and surrounding area. After I composed myself I cleaned what I could returning out to ask for a mop. The gracious store owner was adamant that he would look after it and tried to give me tea and other things to soothe my stomach with no charge. I felt the shame leave my body and just felt so sorry that I ruined his beautiful day. Highly recommend this place if you need a friend in a new country or just a place to quietly sit and relax. I was going to give this place 5 ⭐️ after the great food but changed it to only 2 when I got to the payment option. We didn’t have cash left so asked in Spanish to pay by card to which the waitress claimed there is no card payment option. It turned out she was lying after being pressed on the option to get customers to only pay in cash. We were then finally able to pay by card.

I get the 5% hike in the country on card payments by smaller business but lying you don’t have a payment option is stepping over the line imho. Please change your business practices before you drive yourselves out of business.

Edit: In their response below they claim the system was ‘broken’ for the day. Why was then I able to pay by card? My review still stands as this is dodgy...

Just along from the hotel so rather than hanging around for a hour at 9am waiting for the room to be ready ,walked back to this small coffee shop I had spotted for a hot chocolate. The way I like it, just cocoa. (real ,obviously, this is Peru!!!)No milk .No sugar. So good, returned next morning with another from the group ,who was tempted by the crepes and tea. I just had another cocoa. Then....just before we left to go on the train, took a "to go" one to sip while the group was gathering up people...
