Wow and then more! We were easily able to work with the hotel through our booking.com reservation so that when we arrived in Aguas Calientes Chris (possibly the owner) met us at the train station so we could as quickly as possible move on with our Inca Rail all inclusive tour to Machu Picchu tour without having any baggage or packs. We were not in the end allowed to follow him to the bus stop with the bags but he took them all himself to the hotel for us. He was amazing throughout the stay, as was the rest of the staff. Machu Picchu is not easy to negociate and you need to be on time and you need to stick with your group. Chris and his team made this happen for us. After our tour we arrived to the hotel and were able to make a room change (surely not always possible) to accommodate my mistake booking a king bed for to male friends instead of two doubles…. Made all the difference. We were exhausted, and sweaty from hiking down from the visit. We just wanted our showers and beds. The team made the difference. The breakfast was perfect with fruits and pasteries and I had an omelette which was cooked perfectly and an avocado toast. Well worth it. The coffee was rich and almost Turkish like I love it. We requested a late check out with Chris and again surely not always possible it worked. One of the guys had fallen ill from exhaustion and was sick all night. He needed extra sleep and it work awesome. |Thank you Panorama |This place is perfect for your stay. And the bonus was it is on a river and at night the sound is soothing. Pro-tip: Try to get a balcony room for the morning coffee and enjoy the...
Read moreI'm not even sure where to start! The owner, Christoff met us in the middle of the town (we got lost!) and lugged our bags all the way to his hotel. He shared great tips on where things are situated in the town. He was charming, funny and knowledgeable! ||The hotel is in easy walking distance from the bus stop going to Machu Picchu and the town square. There is a small park with benches directly in front of our hotel along with a few shops and some eateries. The hotel was lovely, clean and had a rustic decor. There was a small area where breakfast was served every day by Juan Carlos. Our room was cozy, and the shower was fabulous! The view of the river, however, was simply stunning!! The sound of the river lulls you to sleep and is beautiful to hear. After long days of activity, we could not wait to go back to the hotel and sit on our balcony and watch the flowing river and marvel at the mountains in front of us! We had the top floor balcony and although the stairs were initially challenging for us (we are a bit out of shape!), by the time we left Peru we were navigating those steps and the hills!||Gisella who worked the front desk, Juan Carlos who cooked breakfast and took care of our room and John who lugged our luggage all the way back up the hill to the train station were all so friendly and accommodating. They really made our stay at the hotel pleasant, personal and comfortable. ||There were other hotels along the river but because of the very affordable price, the best view of the river and most especially, the friendly staff, I would come back and stay in the very same...
Read moreAlthough it looks alright, it's decent at best as far as hostels go. First, it was incredibly noisy. My room had a view of the street and I swear it was as if the windows were wide open. I heard EVERYTHING and Im a pretty deep sleeper (I was even able to easily hear conversations from the second floor when trying to sleep). Second, the water pressure ran out in literally 3 minutes (I let it run while brushing my teeth since hot water in Peru can take a bit, that's 2.5 minutes on a timed toothbrush and water pressure disappeared with only droplets as soon as I finished). Though I did like the incredibly early breakfast and the staff was very kind. Room was clean, but no heater or temperature control of any kind. I'm pretty low maintenance, I have had "showers" using water bottles with holes poked in the lids while backpacking and during hurricanes, this was worse. At least the water bottle has water.
Definitely do not recommend. There are better options in the area for a decent price and from talking to other trekkers, more reliable...
