I found this place horrible. I really don't get how people could rate it so high! I was given a room in the next shack that's built with bamboo. Maybe the stone house is nice where the reception is? In my building the walls are dirty and dusty, sometimes broken, no curtain, the mattress is thin, the bathroom is ant infested (there are ants on the bed too) and basically you can use the bucket to wash. No hot water. The toilet is broken, doesn't flush and there is no toilet seat. The bathroom wall is covered by black mold that's painted over. The place feels and looks dirty and unsafe. You just push in the front door of the building, there isn't even a lock on it - anybody can come in. It's super hot, the fan doesn't cool down the place. I am not really confident leaving my stuff here as anyone could break the door on me. The windows are facing the port, so you have lots of noise (plus the dirt) coming in; the mosquito net is thorn (big holes). There was a Filipino guy next to my room, his room was always open, so you could see him and his trashy room (with the mouldy mattress). Wifi is just about connecting. You get what you pay for they say, but this place socked me a bit. Add on a couple of hundreds and stay somewhere decent! Actually you get a better fan room at R2R for exactly the same price, if you are on a tight budget. Also, they charge 250 for an...
Read moreNice accommodations to be very close to everything from shopping to the tour boats to visit Coron Island and a traditional fresh market about two blocks away. Lots of restaurants to pick from within three blocks. And all the souvenir shopping one could hope for. I would personally recommend JY travel & tours. I saw a few negative reviews but I have to say you can't please everyone. The princess or the prince should stay at the castle because both days that we were out with the tour group, the guides were absolutely wonderful and accommodating. I'll post pictures of the outstanding lunch on both days of our tour of Coron Island. We were able to visit the coral reefs with the fish swimming all around us. Be sure to bring a snorkel or rent one. I personally brought my own as I don't want a previously used one, be sure to bring water shoes as the coral and the rocks are very sharp. Even if you don't know how to swim you can put on a life jacket and one of the tour guides will swim while you hold onto a float so that you can also see the sights while snorkeling. The hotel offered breakfast up on a balcony so that you could look over the bay. There was a fellow on the island we had lunch on the first day who offered fresh coconut juice out of a coconut with straw poked in it after he had cut through the shell. It was really good, it just doesn't get any...
Read moreOur stay at Luis Bay wasn’t perfect but we truly enjoyed it. We booked it through a travel agency along with tours so I have no clue how its price places in the market but I’m pretty sure it’s a budget place.||Pros (+)||- The hotel staff’s hospitality is superb! I really feel welcomed from the check-in through check-out. Shout out to Angie;)|- Room/ bathroom are spacious, clean, well-lit.|- Food was good & relatively affordable (except for the american breakfast)|- Lodge is nearby the island hopping rendezvous, market, luahlahati park & restaurants (we initially thought that this was a bad location as we kept on hiring trikes whenever we were heading out)|- Relaxing view from the restaurant|- Relatively cheaper food than those in the main road.||Cons (-)||- There were intermittent power/ water interruptions during our stay. Imagine the experience in the middle of having a shower.|- It was hard to maneuver the shower at our room. I had to figure it out a couple of times. It seemed broken; I just got tired of seeking help as we barely stayed in our rooms anyway.||Verdict: The pros totally outweighed the every single con— so I’d say go. This is a good deal (great, actually) for a...
