Maritonies Place — Hotel in Coron

I have already left a review on Booking.com but per the owners rude reply I thought I’d follow up. You can tell they don’t take constructive criticism well as all of the owners responses are rude and falsely places the blame on the paying customer. We stated that the toilet seat and paper were missing and were told that we were expecting a 5 star service - ridiculous. |General cleanliness is missing, there were ants in the room and cockroaches outside and no, we didn’t bring any food into the room, neither did any of the other people staying in the dorm. |The room itself only had 2 fans inside, which only reached two of the bunk beds, meaning that everyone else in the room was extremely hot. Whilst we stayed no body did or could stay in the room past 6am. |The staff in general are helpful and friendly however the main ‘madam’ is extremely rude and not in the slightest helpful with anything. We were not informed about the ‘free’ tricycle into town but instead told that it’s a 5 minute walk (it’s about 15) which still isn’t far, but one would expect the owner to know basic details / facts of the surrounding area. |Have never felt so strongly about a hostel I have stayed in before, but even the budget prices just aren’t...

Basic rooms but clean and comfortable with good air con. Three nights was the right length of stay for us. If you would like to fully relax and unwind this place hasn't got the right setting for that. My partner and I opted for budget accommodation as we only needed a place to sleep after spending a full day diving. We did not eat breakfast at Maritonies however it looked good.

The "bathroom" was shared and very basic. There wasn't a sink, neither a toilet seat. These things are basic standards so would be great if the property can make some amendments.

I would recommend you book your tours and ferry tickets independently. Even though the staff are very helpful we encountered significant issues with times/dates of transport when they booked on our behalf which really messed up our subsequent and dependent transport plans.

Also make sure you never accidentally lock yourself out. We left the key in our room and the door shut behind us (our fault) however we had to wait from 12am until 1.30am for someone to return to the property to open the door as most of the staff were out and a spare key had not been left at...

The room was clean and decent, but the bathroom had a colony of ants coming up from the sink. I notified the staff, and they said they would spray the bathroom. What they didn’t mention was that they would do it while I was inside, not when I was out. As a result, I had to endure the awful, toxic pesticide fumes for an hour or two and then avoid the bathroom for the same period. I don’t think the employees have any clue how poisonous insect spray actually is, the owner should let them know.

The air conditioning was good, but it hadn't been cleaned for a long time and was full of dust, making it less effective at cooling the room. Very cold just next to it, and a lot warmer where my bed was placed.

On the first morning, I wanted to rent a scooter and drop off my laundry. Despite the stated opening hour of 6 AM, nobody showed up until past 9. You wasted my time - I had to walk some distance and rented a scooter elsewhere. And then drive back to pick up and deliver my laundry. Very inconvenient.

All in all, an okay place for a reasonable price, but...
