I took this place because it seemed more chilled and still social enough and not too far away. I can definitely underline the previous assumptions. The daily sunsets are gorgeous and you have direct view at it, which is not the ca se for El Nido city. The breakfast buffet varies every day (except toast and jam) and the instant coffee is also great and refillable. The area and rooms are beautiful. It is pretty new and well integrated with bamboo and concrete. Everywhere are hammocks and plenty places to chill or watch the sunset from different floors. The provide a ping pong table and dartboard for activities. The sunset tattoo sounds also interesting to me. The free drinks between 5 to 6 pm are a nice was to reunion with hostel people for sunset watching. The only three downsides are that there are construction works currently. This leads to noise and dust or limited areas during the day (1). I bet the result will be amazing. The Wi-Fi signal in the rooms is very weak and the internet is not the strongest (2). I would suggest to buy a second access point and place it central of the rooms. The AC is great and sufficient, even when you cannot configure it. But it runs only between 7 pm and 7 am (3). I would rather reconfigure it from 9 pm to 9 am. Because I heard from a roomie that it gets quite warm in late morning wgen you want to sleep longer. The fans are helpful but don't compensate it completely. The entry path of the hostel could be a little bit safer (4). There is a concrete socket and loosely wooden boards with nails maybe. This is not super important but not a lot work to fix. To put it in a nutshell, it is a great value for money and I can recommend it for social sunset lovers. One star minus for the 4 mentioned points, which can be relatively easy fixed or anyone gone when the construction...
Read moreWe booked out a dorm for a family holiday and loved our time at the OIA hostel. Rizzi and the staff are really helpful. The communal showers and toilets were cleaned daily. The bar and chill out area were awesome - it's the best place to watch the sun set over the sea and islands in El Nido. A 10-15 minute walk in to town means it's close enough to go for a tour or meal, but very quiet (we stayed a couple of nights in town and it was noisy). The beach is cleaner than in El Nido, though really only good for swimming at high tide (take beach shoes for the coral). There is a floating wharf 5 minutes walk away for swimming off the rest of the time. The staff organised some events such as a cooking lesson (how to make authentic Philippine dishes) with Mike, a walk to a 'secret' beach for sunset, or night clubbing and bar crawl. My only complaint was some of the mattresses were a bit old and had developed a bit of a nest shape with a low bit in the middle. The beds were still comfortable enough. There is plenty to do, or nothing if that's...
Read moreThe best hostel ever!!
Everything with this hostel is just amazing. The rooms and the showers are fresh, the chill area is absolutely perfect with an amazing view of the beautiful mountain.
The chill area includes many things to do like table tennis, pool, skating and beer pong. But it also have hammocks and places where you can just chill by yourself or socialise with other tourists.
If you are into tattoos they even have so you can get a tattoo there by Noi. He is an amazing tattoo artist, I did one and I really love it. (Wish I would have done more)
You don’t need to worry where to get food everyday because you can just order from the hostel. The food is great with a good prize.
The best thing about this hostel though is absolutely the people that’s working there. ALL of them is just wonderful. They made you feel like a family straight away. Rizi with her energy, Paul with his sarcastic humour and Noi with his kindness.
I really can’t talk enough about this place, it felt like home and I was only there...
