We stayed in Himaya Hut (June 11-14, 2024) during our Siargao vacation. This place is in General Luna, which is around 30 minutes from the airport (Carmen). Don’t be surprised with this “hut” because its simplicity radiates art - from architecture to landscaping, the decors, the bedrooms and restrooms, and the St Thomas Cafe (serving guests from 8 am to 5 pm). Since our accommodation had free breakfast, we didn’t only enjoy it; we could hardly finish it. Huge serving (so maybe you can request the chef to reduce the Cebu chorizo serving from 3 to 2 pieces only). There are choices, and we also ordered Bacon and Bangus. This was served with rice, an egg, vege salad (side dish), fried danggit, a dip (sawsawan) and brewed coffee. There is a bar (sadly we didn’t try it due to our hectic schedule). Hectic because we arranged a tri island tour and a land tour (for these you can choose a private one or a “joiner”, meaning you will be joining other guests). Our lunch in DAKU island - charcoal grilled fish and squid, kinilaw, lato, shrimps, and lechon manok. We also had sweet mangoes, banana, and buko. We were lucky to have Jeff (the owner) as our guide in the island. He surfs, landscapes, and grows herbs. Jeff calls us Titas, thus, by the time we went back to Himaya after each tour, we were a bit tired. This explains why we had no time to try the mojitos and the margaritas. For the tours, Himaya will arrange them for you. Our last night in Himaya, Jeff prepared a special tea for the Titas. My oh my, it was the BEST Tea ever! Imagine a tea concoction of freshly picked leaves - choco mint (mentha x piperita f. Citrata), roselle (genus hibiscus), and thinly sliced ginger (zingiber officinale). So refreshingly minty, a bit chocolaty, peppery, subtly acidic, and sweetie. We had a good sleep since we had to check out at 4 am the following day for our early flight to Cebu. So if you plan to visit Siargao, with friends and family members, we highly recommend Himaya Hut - it’s “a clean, well lighted place” with add ons of accommodating staff, a lot of birds of paradise, bamboos, shrubs, woody furniture, and old stuff (singer sewing machine, iron, typewriter, phonograph, bottles, etc.), displayed artistically. You will definitely remember the good old days! Tadaaaaa… for tattoo lovers, Himaya Hut has a corner for this. But for Jeff’s Titas, it’s a NO for us, although one Tita said, “maybe next time” :) Thank you Himaya! Thank you Jeff and Jelly! To all the staff, Brian (our guide in the land tour), and Miguel -...

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Himaya Siargao, and I cannot express enough how much I loved every moment of my visit. From the stunning location near General Luna to the warm and friendly staff, this resort truly exceeded my expectations.
Upon our arrival, we were warmly greeted by the front of house staff, who offered us a refreshing drink that instantly helped us unwind after our journey to the island. Adding to the welcoming atmosphere, we were also introduced to Olive, the resort's delightful dog. It was such a joy to have her around!
The front desk staff were incredibly helpful throughout our stay. They went above and beyond to assist us in organizing various activities, from island hopping to land tours and even surfing lessons. They even arranged tricycle rides for us, ensuring our safety
During our time at Himaya Siargao, my partner unfortunately fell ill. The staff took exceptional care of us, bringing Lugaw (a Filipino rice porridge) to our room. It was such a sweet and thoughtful gesture. The kitchen staff also accommodated my partner's needs, providing delicious and nourishing meals that greatly aided in his recovery. I must say, breakfast was a highlight, evoking a sense of nostalgia
The bar staff deserves a special mention for their outstanding cocktail creations. I was particularly fond of their mango margaritas and mojitos, which were expertly crafted using kalamansi (Philippine limes). It was such a nice touch!
One cannot overlook the breathtaking aesthetics of the resort. From the moment you step through the gate, you're transported into a tropical paradise. The entire property exudes tranquility and beauty. I couldn't help but feel a sense of calm and serenity.
What truly inspired me was hearing the owner's story of resilience in the face of super typhoon Odette, which devastated much of Siargao island in December 2021. Despite the challenges, the resort was rebuilt into the stunning oasis it is today. One notable testament to this is the repurposed wooden wall near the bar, crafted from the old Himaya. In our room, the headboard was also made from the reclaimed wood.
I wholeheartedly recommend Himaya Siargao to anyone seeking a memorable and rejuvenating getaway. I can't wait to return and spend even...
