What we liked: 👍🏻 The location! It was quite convenient. From the port, you just have to walk for a few minutes. 👍🏻 Near to many establishments. You don't have to worry about buying necessities or eating since many are available. 👍🏻 Just a few minutes walk to the market if you want to go there. 👍🏻 Rooms are okay, we stayed at the bungalow. Clothesline are available per room with a faucet outside for washing your feet and stuff. 👍🏻 Hammocks and chairs are available so you can just chill outside.

What we didn't like: 👎🏻 We ran into an inconvenience since we thought we booked a room with airconditioning (since it was indicated in their Agoda listing). In actual, it was just a fan room, so it was really misleading! If the details are wrong, it is the resort's responsibility to correct it in Agoda (as per their terms, and not the platform's responsibility). I even sent an email to the owner to confirm the amenities. She was responsive at first, but when I sent my booking reference, there was no response anymore (probably because I would have cancelled the booking). 👎🏻 Staff need to improve their customer service! We had no choice but to stay there since it is nonrefundable. It would not have been such an issue if the staff handled it well and if they were apologetic about it. Instead, they just said that the listing was wrong and it had happened many times already and a girl said "pareklamoha lang sila". Seeing that it happened many times and still they did nothing means they don't care if the guest will be inconvenienced. 👎🏻 Internet connection was intermittent. Called the staff about it and she just said to try both passwords, which didn't really work. For one day of our stay, we just relied on our mobile data. 👎🏻 Water in the shower took too long to drain. 👎🏻 Room cleaning was not thorough. We saw a worm (?) in the bathroom floor and we asked to clean the room the next day while we were out. When we returned, it was still there, though the trash was taken out. So maybe they didn't clean thoroughly, since it was just near the trash bin. 👎🏻 There was a power interruption at late night, for almost an hour. Not totally the resort's fault, but we were still bummed since it was quite hot...

Basically, you get what you pay for at this hotel. Overall a good place to stay on a budget, but definitely not 3 stars. It's a 2, maybe 2.5 star hotel.

Pros: Spacious rooms with big beds Big breakfast portions and lots of options for everyone Great location Amazing sunset/ocean view from our balcony Friendly staff Free water refill station in the lobby Hot water in the shower

Cons: So many bugs (ants, spiders, massive cockroaches, flies etc). I woke up with bug bites on my face. Dirty bathroom upon check in Almost no water pressure in the shower WiFi is basically non existent in the rooms, most people had to hang out in the lobby to get service Asked for room service twice and neither day got our room cleaned Lock on the door barely worked, bathroom light switch was broken; seems like the room is falling apart and hasn't been properly maintenanced/cleaned in a few years Doors/walls are very thin and there is no set quiet time at the hotel. Some people were up loudly at 6am and others partied until 2am, slamming doors Lots of missing amenities: no pool, no phone, no comforter or blanket (only a tiny sheet), no fire alarms, no hair dryer, no safe They advertised AC on their 3rd party sites on all rooms, yet we had to pay extra to upgrade to AC rooms No private beach, the beach right outside is typically overrun with locals and guys trying to sell you motorbike rides or souvenirs

Overall, if you know what you're getting yourself into,...

I stayed at Blue Coral Resort in Malapascua for 2 nights with friends, and unfortunately, our experience fell short of expectations.

The location is decent—walkable from the port—which is convenient. However, the issues started as soon as we checked in. We booked a room for 5 people, but were only provided with two towels and two small blankets. We had to go back to the front desk to request more, and even that took quite some time. The staff didn’t seem well-trained or attentive; most of them were just hanging around the lobby chatting.

Our room did have a balcony, which could’ve been a nice touch, but we couldn't enjoy it because of the strong stench of cat feces nearby. It really ruined the atmosphere.

The bathroom was surprisingly large, but despite the size, the water coming from the taps and showers was salty—clearly not properly desalinated. Brushing our teeth or even feeling clean after a shower wasn’t really possible. Also, drinking water was not complimentary; we had to pay ₱10 per liter from their dispenser, which feels a bit stingy for a resort.

Breakfast was also inconsistent. On the first day, we were served two eggs each; the next day, only one egg. Not a big deal in itself, but it adds to the overall lack of attention to detail and guest experience.

Overall, the resort has potential given its location, but it needs serious improvements in customer service, maintenance, and basic amenities before I would consider recommending...

Blue Coral Resort delivers a charming coastal experience with good value for money, despite the absence of a swimming pool. The place is ideal for those seeking a tranquil beachfront retreat, with several loungers and hammocks provided, a true definition of "beach bumming". Its location is exceptional, which is situated at the westernmost tip of Bounty Beach, offering guests a panoramic view of the entire Bounty Beach as far as the eye can see. It has a bar situated on a cliff side that is perfect not only for sunrise but also sunsets. We stayed on their Bungalow Rooms during our stay. The room was well-prepared and inviting, featuring a porch overlooking the garden—a perfect spot for morning relaxation. The outdoor faucet for cleaning sandy feet was a thoughtful touch, although the lack of chairs inside the room was a minor inconvenience. The resort stands out from other properties in the area due to its vibrant blue color which is a head-turner. Also, instead of fine white sands, the beach area is filled with corals and the only resort that is like that. Perhaps due to these things the resort got its name, what do you think? Downside: The service at this resort was disappointing. The receptionist was frequently absent from the front desk, making it challenging to get assistance. Additionally, there was no greeting upon arrival. Major improvements are needed to enhance the hospitality standards at this property.

Initially I had trouble contacting the resort via emails and their online form. There was no reply for a long period of time that we started wondering whether the resort existed. Eventually I received their replies and no worries. It's probably the tallest building in that part of the island with its first floor at least a floor higher than the beach level. Staying on the 2nd floor looking down from the balcony felt like staying in a castle. The room was rather big for a couple but very basic. It was reasonably clean. It didn't have a TV nor a fridge but we didn't need those anyway. Certain areas needed some maintenance. Loved the big balcony for watching sunset and drying our dive gear. The staff there was what made this place memorable. All the staff including the manager and security guards greeted us whenever they saw us. And with those warm smiles on their faces. They were also very polite and helpful. Another point goes to their pancakes. Unlike most breakfasts included in some other hotels or resorts, the pancakes here were really good. The right amount of fluffiness, moisture and never oily. Make sure to enjoy yours on the narrow balcony of the restaurant. A great way to start a day!
