Somerset Alabang Manila — Hotel in Muntinlupa

Stayed here on December 10-15 for quarantine from abroad as this is close to home. I got a one bedroom apartment with views of Asian Star Building, the bay on the left, and the city on the right. I booked directly with them including the airport transfer. Communication via email was timely. Pick up from the airport was on time with a friendly driver waiting in the chairs just outside arrivals. The journey was quick. My luggages were brought to the room by a staff while I was doing the check in. The apartment was spacious, clean, and cozy. They have a smart TV but I didn’t find Netflix. I had brought my Amazon firetv stick with me so that’s sorted it. The wifi was fast enough, maybe 5mbps. The air conditioners worked well. The kitchen had crockery, cutlery, cookware, rice cooker, toaster, coffee maker, microwave / oven, washing machine with tumble dryer in one, 5 gallons of drinking water. They also provided coffee and tea, sponge and dishwashing liquid, laundry detergent, reusable kitchen towels. They didn’t provide a knife, chopping board and kitchen paper towels so I asked my mum to send me some. I only got a room only booking so I had food and groceries delivered to the room, no problem. The bathroom was okay though the hardware was not well looked after, they don’t have the shine anymore. The bed was semi comfortable for me as it was a bit too hard but the sheets were lovely. I spent a lot of time in the living area catching up on my tv. The couch is also okay, comfy enough to lay on. I brought one of the three pillows from the bedroom to use on the couch. I have requested balcony access during booking and they gave me the key upon check in. I was swabbed on my 5th day at around 5:30pm, the results and certificate came out the next day before 10am. I was checking with guest services a lot that day if the swab team have arrived and they were very patient and prompt in answering my calls. They also checked with me if I have been swabbed before the team left the hotel. The next day when the results and certificate were released from the onehealthpass website, they asked me to email them a copy and after that I was free to leave. I settled the payment through credit card. Everything was smooth and all the staff were friendly and efficient. I had a great time and comfy stay all in all. It truly felt like home to me so the quarantine went by fast and I got my much needed rest as well. Great value hotel in a very good location. The rooms are a little dated with no smart TVs and a bath/shower setup but otherwise they are clean and comfortable and a good size. They also include a large fridge, filtered water, washer/dryer, hairdryer, iron and ironing board all of which are so handy with a family on holiday. There is a buffet breakfast which is good and includes an egg station, good selection of fruits, Filipino & western breakfast, cereals and continental breakfast, bread and cakes. The restaurant is located on the same floor as the pool and has both outdoor and indoor seating options. We really enjoyed our breakfast here. The pool is large and was never busy when we used it. There's plenty of deck chairs and seating around the pool and it's easy to find shaded areas. There is also a splash pool for young kids and life vests and floaties are available. There is a good gym with most of the basic equipment you need for a work out and a kids play room which is really for very young kids. The hotel lobby is really nice with plenty of relaxed seating options if you're waiting for a friend. We were there during December and there was nightly events with loud music at the venue in the park across from the hotel. The music always stopped by 11pm and never stopped my young children and I from falling asleep but it was easy to hear it in our room even with windows and blinds closed. The best thing about the hotel is the location. You are within easy walking distance if festival mall and Westgate (which has some nice restaurants and cafes). Alabang Town Centre (shopping mall) is also 1km away (walkable in the cooler months like December). There's a supermarket across the park from the hotel and a McDonald's, Starbucks and Jollibee nearby. The streets around the hotel are very walkable and safe with modern footpaths and shade. The local municipality has also banned jeepneys and tricycles from the area the hotel is in so the streets tend to be a lot quieter. I'm a runner and unlike other parts of Manila there was great, safe and traffic free running options with central park and the surrounding streets on the door step. I also found running around Festival Mall to be quite safe in the morning. Highly reccommend this One AWESOME hotel the best we have ever been. Checking in was never a problem. We came a little early but we were assisted in a very professional way. Rooms are perfectly clean with COMPLETE things that every family needs. From cookwares, stoves, washing machine with powder soap, dishwashing liquids etc. Everything that you need that includes big drinking water with properly sealed/clean dispenser. Aircondition was already on when we came to the room and the athmosphere of the room was perfect, cool enough for you and your family to relax and enjoy. Unlike other hotels that you need to wait for few minutes to make the room comfy and cool. "ALL STAFFS" that means all of them are very PROFESSIONAL. Ms Yang to be specific is very kind and cool. She makes our stay the most fun and memorable. Mr. Ross from the swimming pool is very kind and talks to my kids and husband in a very reapectful manner. Ross managed to make friends with my kids and he smile everytime we see him. Guards are also friendly and respectful. Swimming pool is very clean. It was cold it may help if pool is heated (just a suggestion 🤣) Though I know its an outdoor pool. But we all had fun. So little kids can enjoy more. Very strict with buffet which is good. They have staffs to assist you get your food on the hot area to avoid contamination of food and avoid wasting food. But Mr Mj was cool enough to serve us food as much as we wanted without a complain. 😂 Ms. Lei grants my request to serve us more chocolate croissants and serves more than we wanted 🙂😎.
