This is the second year staying at this Hotel and I must say it was a totally mixed bag. Last year when I stayed there was a €50 hold imposed just in case you left damage on the room. Not the worst amount considering they could just place a hold of €1and then take it from there. This year and I do believe it is under new management as the name of the hotel you see is ‘Belver’ when myself and others from the same group arrived to check in we were told it was a €100 hold on our cards!? We explained it wasn’t the case last year and the manager (I do believe older guy) explained to a few of us it was mandatory and we couldn’t have our rooms without it (it also had to be done by physical card payment. I went thru with it as I didn’t want the hassle, we were there for work purposes and I needed my room. All of us there at the time (11 people mixed group majority male separate rooms) were all charged this to access our room bookings. Now this would not be a problem or issue if ALL guests were made to pay this however with a bit of inquiry we found out that not all guests were made to pay this, some guests weren’t even aware of this. I asked black females, white male groups and each time I was answered with “nope just had to pay the tourist tax” which also differed from €6 to €8 euros. This is a complete joke and liberty. Be consistent or don’t bother at all. To add insult to injury this new company that have taken over the hotel also told some guests that their rooms didn’t have fridges in them because they were renting them out and also replaced all beds they had (king and queen) with low to the ground two single beds in the rooms. Didn’t make for the most comfortable sleep but I guess I made it work. Also if you want to even think of sleeping do not get a room facing the strip. You will hear constant noise. The breakfast is at a decent level and the staff working the breakfast are really friendly and do their job well, no complaints with them. The €100 charge is not compulsory and you DO NOT have to pay it. They make it up and will charge people based on their own stereotype. It also gets taken off your card not a hold and when you leave they refund it onto your card, I checked out on Monday and I am still waiting for the money to...
Read moreThe room where we're at is on the street side of which facing 'The Strip' where the noise is unbearable as it starts from 7 PM till 6 AM (all the clubs, pubs, bars have a competition of who can have the loudest music) and the clientele are singing, shouting etc the whole night. Our room doesn't have a noise buffer, the door to the balcony have faulty lock (we're on the first floor), reported to reception and told someone will come fix it, they never did. The cleaners are quite god though as the room's very clean. Our room tv is an old early 2000's version of Grundig of which you cannot connect to your mobile to access Netflix or apple TV (no USB connection, just an old scart version), no kettle for a hot drink if you want one considering there's nowhere to buy hot drink within the hotel premises after meal times. The room looks very 'scruffy' as paint's peeling, ceiling plank's need fixing, sockets nowhere near the bed or bedside table when you want to charge your electronics, unless if you're willing not to have a light in the room and unplug the bedside lamp to use for charging. The bed... wow, the bed... you can feel the bed spring when you lie on it or hear it twanging when you sat on it ... the bed cover's too rough and a flat sheet under that's too thin for blanket use at night. When you get out of our room, there's a leakage on the hallway where the cleaners just put a folded towel to soaked up the water (I guess... quite dangerous for those who comes back drunk later on as floors very uneven and slippery). The pool, it needs a bit of scrubbing as you can see the 'brown bits' on the side (hubby calls it grease line) and the loungers? Well, I wouldn't recommend using it if you've got back problem, bony back as it's way, way past it's best. We requested to be moved to the other side of the hotel to hopefully have a reduce noise and we were informed that we have to pay extra €25/night. When we booked the hotel we were not informed of the room's location or given choices (first time to go to Albufeira). The only positive experience we have with this hotel is the decent breakfast (choices of continental breakfast, fruits, bacon, sausage, orange juice, coffees and tea), cleaners doing...
Read moreHotel Da Aldeia, Albufeira – A Frightening, Disgraceful Experience That No Guest Should Endure||||If I could give zero stars, I would. Our stay at Hotel Da Aldeia wasn’t just disappointing—it was appalling on almost every level. I urge future travellers to seriously reconsider before booking, particularly if they care about safety, honesty, and basic human decency.||||Let’s begin with the food. What was served barely resembled acceptable hotel fare. The meals were consistently bland, poorly prepared, and offered little to no variety. Dietary needs were ignored, and staff seemed indifferent to complaints. It felt more like being force-fed than catered to—every mealtime was an ordeal.||||However, the most alarming aspect of our stay was the behaviour of the security staff. Several members of our party were physically assaulted by security personnel following a minor disagreement. This wasn’t a misunderstanding—it was aggression. Violent, unjustified, and traumatizing. The lack of accountability and concern from hotel management was both shocking and disturbing. You expect safety when you pay to stay somewhere; instead, we were threatened in the very place we were meant to relax.||||Adding to the nightmare, personal belongings went missing from guest rooms. Multiple people in our group reported stolen items, including valuables and personal possessions. After careful consideration, we strongly suspect staff involvement, as the rooms had been locked and access was limited. When this was reported, the response was dismissive, almost as if theft was to be expected.||||The management failed on every front—no apology, no investigation, no sense of responsibility. Just a hollow facade of hospitality that crumbles under the slightest scrutiny. This is not just a case of poor service—this is a hotel that fundamentally disregards the wellbeing and dignity of its guests.||||I cannot overstate how deeply distressing our experience was. The psychological toll, the sense of violation, and the danger we felt are not things any holidaymaker should go through. Hotel Da Aldeia didn’t just ruin our trip—it created a memory we wish we...
