Hotel Dona Sofia — Hotel in Braga

Another review of this hotel said if you want 5 star then pay for it. This hotel is incredibly good value. It's basic, but clean, good size rooms, the beds are very comfy with a choice of cushion. But the best thing about the hotel is the location. It's right by the Cathedral and a very short walk from all the main sights, restaurants and areas you would want to visit. There is free parking available which is rare in this small city and we were lucky enough to get one of the 5 spots. But there is lots of parking available around nearby which is not too expensive and this hotel has deal with the cat park in the liberty shopping centre for 10E for 24 hours, where you can go in and out s much as you want (go to the car park desk when you arrive to get it set up). The breakfast is good, shame there is no kettle on the room. The staff are so friendly and helpful and despite this not being a luxurious hotel and it is a bit dated, I couldn't recommend it highly enough for...

What an amazing location and Staff. The rooms are spacious and you feel very safe . The only issues could be the thins walls if noisy neighbors and the mattresses are older.

From the third floor room, we had an amazing city view and one of Bom Jesus!!

The proximity to EVERYTHING sells the Hotel Dona Sofia...once you get your bearings straight,you realize you are with a 10 minute walk of every major attraction.

Parking is very limited and will not be available at check in, so they have an arrangement with an underground parking garage only 200 meters away for 10€ per day with 24 hours in and out availability. This is sure better than trying to find a street spot, constantly feeding the meter, AND worrying about the vehicle!!!

Location is absolutely great, it could not be better if you wish to visit the essential places in the downtown. Room is very clean and it (Twin room facing to the plaza) was very spacious. Bathroom with two sinks and the bedroom even had an armchair. Hall and inside stairs looks very nice. Service at the reception was very, very friendly. We received great tips about cafeterias, pastelarias and restaurant. Persons at reception made miracles when arranged how hotel guest could park at the front of the hotel even if there were only 6 parking places. Do not be afraid if it looks full - drive directly there and ask the reception if there is a free spot for your car. Air condition worked and it could be adjusted...
