Restaurante Caldo Entornado - Food House — Restaurant in Braga

We stumbled into this restaurant on the way to another and decided to stay for their bacalhau and octopus. We were pleasantly surprised, Their octopus was much better that what we had the night before at a 3-Michelin star restaurant. Also, the bacalhau was very tasty and not overly salty like at other restaurants.

They have a small, but focused menu and what we had was especially good so the impression is that they also give the other items similar attention. We plan to go back to taste it all.

We spent some time talking to the very friendly owners and staff and learned that the chef was previously working at the aforementioned 3-Michelin star restaurant and it certainly tasted that way.

The food was ok, but BEWARE that the English menu has different prices than the Portuguese one. 50cl beer was listed as 2€ on the English menu and we were later charged 3,50€. When we pointed out the price difference and showed the waitress the menu on our phones, she said she would go talk to her boss about it, but later came back and charged us the beers for the higher price without any sort of explanation. Felt scammed and will not...

The place is nice and lovely, Staff and waiters too. Unfortunately I cannot said the same thing of the food. We order a T-bone for two persons and the best was the vegetables and the potatoes. Bad quality meat and such a few quantity for 25 euros dish. Things get even worse with the dessert: Cheese cake. Nice presentations and bad quality came back again to our table.
