The location is not super central but it was a very enjoyable walk. First walk towards Praca Republica and Santa Cruz Park, then on to Museum Machado and the university, finally down to Largo da Portagem and the wonderful Dr Manuel Braga Park.
On the way back, take a slightly different route back to Njoy. This time take the route that passes the Old Cathedral of St Mary.
We walked these routes a couple of times, which were extremely enjoyable, at all times of the day even in the evening. Tiny alleyways, charming old (sometimes run down) buildings, view of the hilly town, students and academics walking past. Coimbra is such a peaceful, authentic and safe city, and we had a wonderful time staying at Njoy for 4 nights. There is a big communal kitchen and dining area with complete utensils and utilities. My room is very pleasant and modern, located in a secure building in a safe street. The management provides very good service.
