Terraço Da Alta — Restaurant in Coimbra

This place was absolutely gorgeous. There was an event inside so they gave us the option to eat outside even though they were closing right when we got there. They were so nice and honestly even though it was chilly it was beautiful on the balcony.

The food! Oh wow. It was like delicious art. I have never felt I’ve needed to compliment a chef before but this place needed a complement. I stepped out of my comfort zone and got the tuna steak which I’ve never been crazy for but it was fantastic. My mom got the turbot and it was also wonderful and plated so beautiful.

My mom got a port tonic and I got a juice mix tropical sunrise I think and the flavors were amazing.

For dessert I got the apple crumble and it was so delicious. My mom got pumpkin pie and the use of the coffee cream was amazing.

Also p.s. this kind of meal would have been so much more...

We came here as they opened at 7pm for dinner with a view. They made us sit inside when the whole place was empty so no view. We ordered a massive t-bone steak that was so badly cooked it was cold inside and under seasoned. For the money they are charging they should be disappointed with their chef.

There was no other people in the restaurant (just 4 staff talking loudly) and they had no music playing or any atmosphere, it was very flat. They also had a worker outside fixing electrical stuff on the balcony (so unprofessional when they are closed for hour in the day) Whole family of steak lovers were disappointed and wished we had gone somewhere else.

If you visit, reserve a table outside if you want the advertised view, do not order a big steak as they have no idea how...

Had a reservation at 9pm last night Had booked it in advance since we were coming from Canada Took a taxi from our hotel to arrive at the restaurant and big surprise, there’s a party going on Private party we are closed tonight they said !!! Showed this guy (manager ) my Google réservation and he said it was a mistake My wife had heels on so couldn’t walk back down those steep streets to find another restaurant l, I asked them to call a taxi for us , they could have offered to compensate us and pay for the cab Bad experience but had a wonderful dinner somewhere else (Solar do bacalhau) Highly recommend !
