Mirasol Guesthouse — Hotel in Funchal

Eva Saint-John||I am very happy for having chosen the right place to stay while on holidays on Madeira Island. ||I was treated so well at Pensao Residencial Mirasol that I would like to stay at this place again when I visit Madeira next year. ||The owners are lovely people. Always willing to help you in anything you need. They are sincere people who really like to help their guests.||The building in itself has a lot of charm. It is a beautiful place to be. The rooms are clean, the beds and pillows are comfortable and the well maintained Victorian style building with a lot of history is very beautiful.||Pensao Residencial Mirasol is well located. Within a 2 minute walk down the street you will find, restaurants, snack bars, coffee shops, supermarkets, the main market and post office.||2 minutes on foot up the street (Rua Bela de Sao Tiago) you will find the Barreirinha sea access swimming complex. We booked this hotel off of some good reviews, but we were extremely disappointed.||Our room was small, dark, the mattress was old and uncomfortable, and the bathroom was dirty. The bathroom was really old and the vanity light seemed like a light from a workshop or shed. Our flight was delayed and we got in later than expected. When we arrived the hotel was locked, but we were able to get in via an employee who was there to answer the bell. We asked where to park and he directed us to a spot in front of a garage door. My wife asked if it was okay to park there because of the door and he said not to worry it was his boss' garage. When we woke up in the morning, we were yelled at by the owner repeatedly for blocking the garage. They didn't seem to acknowledge the evening employee told us to park there. ||||The location is good, the breakfast was tasty. This does seem to be a family run hotel, but if you're looking for a relaxing vacation/holiday then this is probably not the option to consider. We wished we would have selected a different option...
