Upon our arrival, we experienced a lengthy wait, and despite arriving before others, they were seated ahead of us. When finally seated, we were placed at a dirty table with remnants of the previous diner's meal. The table seemed poorly cleaned, with only the previous dishes and glasses removed.
We ordered the Tikka Masala (€15.90) and Lamb Rogan Josh (€16.90) for both of us, along with garlic naan. Unfortunately, the naan we received was thin and hard, and the overall taste of the dishes was underwhelming. Despite choosing based on positive reviews, we found the food lacked flavor, and the portions were disappointingly small, leaving us still hungry.
When we requested the bill, we encountered yet another issue. Instead of promptly addressing our request, the staff began cleaning and stared at us blankly. In the end, we had to take matters into our own hands, getting up and approaching them to settle the bill ourselves. This lack of attention to customer service further added to our overall dissatisfaction with the dining experience.
The bill for this unsatisfactory experience amounted to €49.60, with the naan, supposedly for two, priced at €11.80. I do not recommend dining here considering the price and quality. Instead, I suggest trying Indian Palace, where we previously enjoyed similar meals. The dishes were much more flavorful, and the portions were generous, leaving us fully satisfied, all at a...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant to celebrate my husband’s birthday after reading good reviews. We were a bit worried about parking, but the restaurant staff helped us find a nearby spot which was a nice gesture.
Excited, we asked to speak with the chef to better understand the menu and what we could order. Unfortunately, the food turned out to be just average.
We ordered boondi raita and after tasting it, I felt the boondi was old and oily, possibly expired. When we informed the staff, they politely replaced it with a vegetable raita, which we appreciated.
Later, while eating the dal, we found a small stick in it that looked like a broomstick. We politely asked the waiter about it, but his reaction was disappointing. He made rude facial expressions and even passed an inappropriate caste related comment. He repeatedly said, “We’ve had this happen with many Indians.. we’ll make your table free,” which felt very disrespectful. He then added that the restaurant’s owner told them to clear any table if someone complains about the food. Eventually, he said the stick was from kasuri methi.
Overall, it was a very disappointing experience, especially on a day we wanted to...
Read moreThe other half and I fancied a curry, so walked the short distance down to Chef Guru. We were instantly welcomed and shown to a table, and from here it just got better! The staff are quite simply lovely and extremely attentive, nothing is too much for them. We ordered poppadoms and a main dish each of lamb rogan josh and fish curry. Following the delicious poppadoms and pickle tray, we were served an unexpected starter treat, please see pictures. Served on dry ice it was lovely. Then the mains arrived and wow! Each dish comes with a portion of basmati rice, so you don't need to order any, however, we added a garlic naan to our order, as we were really hungry. Both of us have said that this was one of THE BEST curries we have had, the heat was just right (you were asked how hot you wanted it, so cooked from scratch and not from a mass produced batch) and the flavours were amazing. A nice thin naan bread, laced with garlic butter and tasty rice too. Absolutely love this place and we will be heading back there before we head home. PS - we live near Bradford, the curry capital of the North and our curries trumped anything we've ever...
