We spent three nights here, late last November. This small, comfortable hotel is conveniently located off of a tram/bus line route, right in the heart of Lisbon's Belem district. You are approximately one hour away from the airport, taking public transport or about 30 minutes away taking a Taxi. Taking a taxi might be longer, depending on whether it is rush hour traffic or not. The cost of a taxi should be approximately 20 euros. The hotel's location is ideal, there are nice restaurants and shops close by, you have easy access to the old parts of the city, all within walking distance or by taking the tram. You probably will start off your day by visiting the Pasteis de Belem bakery, located only a few doors down from the hotel. This is a good stop for breakfast and also a chance to sample what Portugal is famous for, the Pasteis de Nata pastry. You are approximately 200 meters from the Mosterio de Jeronimos and only a 15 minute walk to the Belem Tower, which lies right beside the Tagus River. While you are strolling along the river, be sure to visit the Monument to Maritime Explorers, pay particular attention to the marble terrace in front of it. A very impressive mosaic, representing where the Portuguese explorers have charted routes around the world. There are also many food booths and restaurants lining the Malecon along the Tagus . This would be a good place to end up your day.|You are also well positioned to explore the rest of Lisbon. The tram/bus line is situated across the street from Famous Crows. We took Bus 15E, one of several available transit options, and got off at Praca do Comercio, about a 30 minute bus ride. This is a good place to begin your exploration of what is really the historic city centre. You are literally minutes from place such as Rossio Square, the Prada da Fiqueira and such sites as the iconic Elevator de Santa Justa and the Castelo de Sao Jorge, which sits on a hilltop to the right of the Baixa quarters. |You can spend a lot time wandering its narrow streets, perusing its many shops and cafes. Lisbon is a city that is easy to love.|One other place that we visited was the Oceanario de Lisbon. This was about an hour bus ride from the hotel, and also on Bus 15E. This is a very beautiful aquarium, and one that we fittingly chose to do a rainy day.|Famous Crows Quest House is more than a well located hotel, it is also a very comfortable one. The rooms are cosy, bed/bedding is comfortable, there is an ensuite bathroom, free wifi, all is there that you need. You enter at street level, go up a set of stairs to a small lobby/check-in area and are welcomed by your friendly host, Pedro. A nice welcome to Famous Crows Quest House. Pedro will be happy to give your more suggestions on things to see and do in Belem. He is justifiably proud of being Portuguese.|PS. A plug for the little boutique next door, Toranja. This is a good place to buy souvenirs that will remind you...
Read moreWe stayed here for two nights at the end of our two-week trip through Portugal, choosing it as an affordable place to stay before our departure. The price was very reasonable, and while the accommodations were fairly simple—just a room and bathroom without extras like laundry facilities or a fridge—that felt appropriate given the lower cost.
The staff member we interacted with was engaging and knowledgeable about the area, recommending a restaurant at the end of the street that we ended up visiting twice and really enjoyed. The location itself was fantastic, with great surrounding streets, parks, and attractions. It was also just a short Uber ride to the airport, costing around 10 euros.
There were a few downsides—the street noise did carry into the room at times, and the beds were on the firmer side, which wasn’t as comfortable as other hotels we stayed at during our trip. However, considering the price point, the overall quality felt reasonable. The keyless entry system with three keypad-access doors (outer, inner, and room) was very reliable and easy to use, making coming and going hassle-free.
One of the highlights was the neighborhood itself. Earlier in our trip, we stayed in downtown Lisbon, which was much more fast-paced, but this area had a more relaxed, laid-back feel. When we return to Lisbon, this is the part of the city we’d love to...
Read moreThis was a brilliant place to stay that was great value for money, comfy, and in a really great location just outside the centre of Lisbon. Transport links were plentiful and I have to give 5 stars to our host (I’m so sorry I didn’t manage to catch his name - I believe it might be Pedro??) who was incredibly friendly, professional and made us feel very welcome in the building. He also gave us information about the local area and a few recommendations which was lovely! The only issue we had was dropping our bags off in the morning as check in did not open till 15:00. We were informed we could do this from 10:00 as cleaning staff would be there but when using the buzzer at the front door we got no response. Luckily we managed to get inside via another couple staying in the building. From here a member of the cleaning staff was happy to lock our bags in reception until check in opened. Just a minor thing overall but this process could be a bit better :) thank you...
