Gerónimo Guest House Belém — Hotel in Lisbon

I stayed at Geronimo for a week. Right from the start, Ricardo, the manager, was helpful, as my taxi driver from the airport was a bit clueless and needed directions. I stayed in the Tavira room. It is a well-appointed room with a very comfortable bed and nice-sized bathroom. The garden in the backyard of the house is welcoming with banquettes, chairs and a dining table. The neighborhood seems very safe.||||The Tropical Garden of Belem and the Mosteiro de Jeronimos are both very close and make great landmarks to prevent you from getting lost.||||It is a five-minute walk downhill to a transit hub in Belem, where you can catch several buses and a tram that go to various parts of central Lisbon. It takes around 20 minutes. Close to the transit hub are about ten restaurants and a Starbucks. ||||One note: if you are noise-sensitive as I am, you should know there is a pedagogical farm for children right behind the house. That means from about 9 am to 5:30 pm (this is summer) you will hear lots of squealing and sometimes screaming children. You probably won't be around much during these times, though. Our 2 night stay turned into a great surprise thanks to this charming guesthouse. Despite our short stay, the location was perfect – a comfortable walk from interesting sights and fantastic local restaurants. The room itself was cozy and spacious, with a view of a lovely backyard garden .

For animal lovers, a resident cat added a touch of whimsy to our visit. While the rooster's morning serenade might not be for everyone, it certainly added to the guesthouse's unique charm.

This place is perfect for a quick stopover, but next time, we're definitely extending our stay to a full week! Highly recommended.

A special shout-out to the host Ricardo, who made our brief stay feel incredibly welcoming. Our daughter forgot her tablet there, and our incredible host took the time to let us know and ship it back to us in less than a week.

Very good location: though located in a quiet side road GGHB is only two to three minutes walking distance to the Tropical Botanical Garden (with beautiful peacocks), Jerónimos Monastery and the best Pastel de Nata (Portuguese custard tart) bakery in the world at Pastéis de Belém. Ricardo and Jorge are perfect hosts. They make you feel welcome in their cosy house with lots of ethnic interior. The garden is spacious and an ideal place to chill out. The rooms have everything you would expect from a hotel room, except perhaps a kettle and a paper basket, which would probably been given if we had asked for.
