After reading the reviews below, I expected a guest house or B&B feel for O Bigode. We got more of a hostel.||For starters, there's no longer a breakfast like everyone mentioned.||Laundry is available, but we found daily that the cleaner left the laundry on a 16 hour delay (to kick on early in the am), thereby monopolizing the machine during waking hours.||We were woken up on various nights by people talking in the living room until late and by people ringing the apartment doorbell at 4am. The place is small,so any sounds really travel. Quiet hours need to be instituted.||We also felt that the place was very casually run - we told them when our plane landed and it took us two hours to get out of the airport to the hotel via metro. We got there and found the hostess running out the door. She gave us a very hurried check-in and told us we could pay later. We have no idea how we would have gotten in if we wouldn't have happened to see her right before she got into her car to leave. Payment was very unclear until the last morning when she had to come early to collect our money before she left.||The rooms were clean, the bathrooms always available and it was nice to have access to a kitchen. The price was right for this casual atmosphere but our stay could have definitely been improved even just with a solid, quiet...
Read moreWe had a great stay there. We stayed in the room next to the living room and were provided with a baby cot for our one year old daughter. Arianna gave us great recommendations and told us we could help ourselves to breakfast before leaving early on the day of our departure, which was very helpful for us with a young baby. The guest house is really well located less than a minute's walk from the Rato metro station from where you can go anywhere and there is a a supermarket a couple of minutes away in a road that runs parallel to the one the apartment is on. You can do laundry there too which is great and the view from the balcony is fantastic. We would recommend this place to families, in fact another family with teenagers was staying there at the same time, and maybe the addition of a baby high chair would make it even better. Will definitely recommend to friends and family...
Read moreO Bigode do Rato is a lovely friendly guesthouse just above the chaos of downtown Lisbon. ||||There's Rato Metro stop is just round the corner and it's very simple to get wherever you want to go in Lisbon (buses also stop there). It's also a 5-10 minutes walk to Marqis de Pombal which is a major hub for both. You can walk to the Tagus in about 15-20 minutes. ||||It's no.2A so just walk up the hill from no.2 an d it's a green gate. It's on the 4th floor but there's a lift.||||Everyone was really friendly and helpful, there's a nice breakfast and the rooms are spacious and clean. There's a kitchen which you can use. As it's a small guesthouse, there's not the normal noise you'd expect. ||||Highly recommended as a base to...
