We booked here as a couple. We chose this as good location, close to the beach and marina.
The three bars right beneath the hotel are bars that facilitate prostitution, that only open from roughly 9pm until 5/6 am and the surrounding area right below the hotel is swarming with them from 11pm onward.
We witnessed young women escorting older men to hotel rooms on multiple occasions during our stay. I would better describe this place, unfortunately without any exaggeration, as a brothel rather than a hotel. They clearly facilitate these activities but tend to deny it publicly like in past reviews.
When we confronted the receptionist on duty the night of the 16th June, he said this is what it is and if you don't like it then you are not our clientele... Even though they advertise a pool that children can use on their website. The lack of responsibility taken by the hotel is beyond belief - fair enough they can't do anything about the bars as they are operating legally but they will still advertise the hotel to families with young children and mislead visitors into the thinking that the place is something that it's not.
We also rented beach towels off the hotel and they were riddled with bugs. I would avoid this place...
Read moreI have seen reviews about the noise in this hotel at night from downstairs bars. I had no experience of this at all as we requested a pool facing view following advice from another review. Rooms were huge and household staff cleaned the room everyday and were very friendly. In general the rooms were well maintained but perhaps kitchen presses could do with updating and maybe bathroom but overall it was a lovely apartment. Breakfast was ok, pretty basic and not something i eat every morning, very repetitive. My main fault is the pool area which is not really the hotels fault. Sunbeds were new and well maintained and pool was clean. However if you are a sunbather you may be disappointed as by 4pm or even earlier there was no sun on the pool and you had to chase the sun onto the grass, getting closer and closer to the wall. By 5.30pm the sun was completely gone! There was a tennis court that i never saw being used and if the hotel converted that for sun beds you'd get at least another...
Read moreFirst off, it’s a 2* hotel.|But saying that it’s in a fantastic location on the marina, bars and restaurants surround the hotel. I recommend going a couple of streets back from the marina for better and cheaper food. (I was disappointed by the 2 meals we had on the marina)|There is always Macdonalds right there too if you need that.|The pool is a nice size and always sun beds available.|The breakfast is good, with plenty of choice but the same every day.|We had a couple of things that needed looking at in the room and the reception got it dealt with straight away|Lizzys bar outside is good and opposite is a great supermarket that gives you everything you may need|On other reviews people mention the prostitutes, yes you see them late at night but they keep themselves to themselves and seem respectful to people not interested in them.|Vilamoura is a lovely place and well worth a visit, yes probably more upmarket hotels around but we...
