We visited this place as part of our month-long trip visiting Madeira and the Azores in February.
Check-in We were told wrong check in time (from 3, and apparently in winter is until 3) we had booked our ferry and everything accordingly. Anyway the receptionist was very nice and waited for us a few minutes.. Once we entered the house, a strong mouldy smell hit us. When we turned the AC on, it blew mouldy smell. There has been also obviously mould on each outside wall, because it has been painted over (see fotos). In the living room but also in the bedroom. I understand there’s a very high humidity here but so far for three weeks and 4 accommodations, we never had one that was intensively smelling like mould. With our 10-month old baby with us it’s not pleasant to wonder what might be the effects for all of us breathing this mouldy humid air. I think the houses need repairs to fight the mould in general. The bed is big and comfortable and we have many towels, shampoo, soap, etc. We had the place vacuumed every day (because of the little one crawling everywhere) and this was very nice. Staff is very friendly. Very nice view and terrace as well as location. You can reach the port and the town in 5-10mins by foot.
Laundry and Kitchen There is a QR code in every room giving you lots of information about the facility including that there is laundry service. Upon asking, the receptionist was utterly surprised and said they never offered laundry service. He asked the boss however and we got a few lavanderias suggested. Compared to our previous kitchens and shared kitchens, the equipment was poor. You will not find a potato peeler, a grater, a casserole to bake in. For me basic thinks to cook for me and my baby. The kitchen has a microwave, a stove and an oven. Sometimes you will see ants come and go on the floor. They’re friendly though.
So all in all old or new I don’t care but this mould and smell and the missing utensils which personally for me are a must have, was...
Read moreNegatives||-Not sure the hot tub was being properly treated. Really started to smell musty by the third day and was a little cloudy even though we always showered before use as instructed and kept the lid on when not in use||- Few other kitchen utensils would have been helpful such as a veg peeler||- Staff kept not replacing towels. First time they were put on the sink which is usually pretty obvious but even when placed on the floor one wasn't replaced||- Really odd to have large square holes in the wall between the terraces. Pretty poor for privacy||- Would prefer a double bed as an option rather than two singles||- Shower head flooded the bathroom on full pressure as it would force the head upwards||- Direct access to the road from our end would have been nice so we didn't have to walk all the way round and back ||||Positives ||-Beautiful view||- Very spacious||- Good location close to ferry, restaurants, shops, winery and swimming pools||- Nice terrace area||- Early check in||- Plenty of...
Read moreThis place was pure paradise. By far our favorite appartment among our whole trip on several islands. Actually... may be the best appartment I've ever stayed in during my years of travel across the world.||It was perfectly clean and quiet, big enough to feel like home. The kitchen and the bathroom are well equiped, and there is plenty of storage space. ||The location on Pico island is perfect. 10 minutes walk from the city center, the ferry, the grocery store and the best restaurant of the area (Tasca O Petisca).||The staff is amazing. Friendly, helpful, kind, efficient. They answer quickly and are patient.||Finally, the view from the (large!) balcony is breathtaking. Definitely worth it, we would book there again without hesitation and we strongly recommand this place.||What could be improved? We prefer places that offer refillable bathroom products, rather than single use...
