I made reservations in October. Prepaid and they immediately charged my credit card. I never received a confirmation number . I have called and left dozens of messages. I have emailed reservations and the general manager dozens of times. No reply from them EVER!! I have alerted my credit card company that this hotel is a FRAUD!!! Hopefully, my credit card company will refund the money. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THESE FRAUDSTERS!!!
I received a response on this review telling me to delete this post!!! I will NOT. You indeed charged my credit and refused to answer any of my email or calls. Hotel Mare only replied after I póster my experience. They provide the sane email that I used to contact them and resolve this matter. I even stated in my email and my phone messages that I would be reporting you as fraude to my credit card company. Check your récords, October 12 reservations made for two rooms. Also, check your email and phone messages!!
You wrote a self-serving reply to my review. I sent you the copies of my various emails requesting a confirmation / reservation number over the course of two months. And, I offered to send you screenshots of the various phone calls to your hotel. Yes, you credited the money ONLY after I wrote this review. Please don't be liars about what transpired. Besides, how can you claim that you never charged my credit card when you were able to reimburse me on the same credit card? Your hotel and SIXT car rentals give Portuguese businesses a black eye. I still love Portugal despite the way I was treated...
Read moreGreat location for a considerable price with awful breakfast. The core upside of the hotel is its location. Close to the beach, close to the cable car and most of the restaurants.
The rooms are clean and spacious, we got the room with a balcony with a sea view even though we didn’t specifically ask for it, which was nice. With that being said it’s ridiculously loud from the street - constant noise of cars, motorcycles and party music - closing the windows numbs the sounds but doesn’t cut them off completely, so you might consider getting a rear street room if you want to have your windows open. The inside noises are not better, it seems like the room door and walls are paper thin you can hear everything that happens in the corridor and in rooms next door - especially when someone is having a shower, the flow of water is so loud that it literally wakes you up in the morning.
The staff is really nice and helpful.
The biggest downside was breakfast. It was so skimp that I didn’t look forward to it at all. Only warm dish was overcooked scrambled eggs and toast. There were only two types of sliced ham to choose from with little bones in it which could crack your tooth. Bread seemed stale, there were literally no vegetables of any kind and bitter and dry fruit. A...
Read moreI was cautiously optimistic given the reviews I read upon arrival we were early, they got us checked in and dropped off our bags at the counter. They told us the room would be ready in thirty minutes, it took 35. We requested extra beds in the room for our kids and unlike in the states when we got to the room the extra beds were in place and made. Room was clean and modern. The only blemish in the room was what looked like a small bleach stain on the carpet. Big breakfast room on the 5th floor with an all glass view of the surrounding area. The longest part of the walk to the ocean is walking across the sand. There are a dozen restaurants on the way to the beach ranging from American hamburgers and chicken nuggets to traditional Portuguese food. Hotel parking is quite a ways from the hotel but I was able to park a 7 passenger van with out too much trouble and the garage is well secured. Beds were a little on the stiff side but that has become my expectations when in Europe. All in all a good place to stay for a weekend or a...
