A nightmare! Unusual experience in an IHG hotel. Checked in late night. The young boy at the reception was pretty very serious, looked at us with suspicion and rejected our request for a single bed rather than twin beds in the room. He didn’t welcome me as Diamond Elite member despite me reminding him on that. We stayed there for 5 nights for attending and lecturing at the ISPAD international convention on diabetes in the young people. On day two when we were getting ready in the morning for the conference, got a telephone call from the reception to urgently go down. We both thought its fire in the hotel. Rushed down and to our shock and surprise the receptionist lady informed the police officer, who was waiting to meet me. He politely wanted me to go to the Lisbon police station immediately, since according to him “I am traveling on a lost passport!!” We both tried to explain to him, when two more police officers joined him. In the meantime we realised that the staff in the reception had entered the details in the hotel system from my expired passport and not from my new passport. We showed to the police officers, my new passport, old one with some valid visas and evidence of the passport stolen at Milan. One officer was convinced and told others I need not go to the police station. Soon after that we made the lady at the hotel reception reenter credentials from my new passport. I always carry my old and new passports together. However this grave mistake had happened in the first place, due to an oversight by a staff in Holiday Inn, Lisbon. I could meet only one lady by name Felix at reception who at least smiled and was courteous to us during check out. The hotel offers breakfast with minimal dishes. No restaurant during day or night. No gym. No free water. No good restaurants nearby. If it were not for an IHG brand, the hotel is worth the cost!

During our visit to Lisbon in May 2023, my husband and I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Lisbon - Alfragide, an IHG Hotel. Despite being unable to write a review at the time due to my pregnancy, I want to share our experience now. Overall, our stay was satisfactory, earning the hotel a 4 out of 5 stars. While the hotel served its purpose, there were a few aspects that could be improved. Our room, although clean, appeared a bit worn down and outdated. However, it provided us with a comfortable place to rest after a day of exploring the city. Additionally, the location of the hotel was decent, albeit not very close to major attractions. Fortunately, having a car rental allowed us to easily access the places we wanted to visit. One notable downside was the tightness of the garage parking, which induced a bit of anxiety. Maneuvering our car into the spaces was a challenge, but we managed with some patience and careful driving. On the bright side, the staff at the hotel were fantastic. They were friendly, accommodating, and always willing to assist us with any inquiries or requests we had. Their hospitality greatly enhanced our experience and made us feel welcomed throughout our stay. Another highlight was the breakfast offered at the hotel, which was surprisingly good. It provided a variety of options to start our day off right, and we appreciated the convenience of having breakfast available onsite. In summary, while the Holiday Inn Express Lisbon - Alfragide may have had some drawbacks, such as the slightly outdated room and tight parking, it ultimately provided us with a comfortable and convenient base for our adventures in Lisbon. The friendly staff and satisfying breakfast helped to offset any shortcomings, and we would consider staying here again in the future.

Excellent room and hotel in this price category! Worth much more. I paid 101 euros per 3 persons in one room - me and 2 sons. I got very comfortable big bed and good sofa, very clean room, quite big and with great view to Lisbon. Comfortable big shower, good shower&shampoo. Teapot. Very good air conditioner, work good and almost quit. Quit in room was good for rest, it’s important No coffee machine I wish to have cheap one in room and will be great to have small cooler for water. Breakfast- not so many varieties, but everything you get - is good quality, all is well, no any trashy products as another proposing like ugly sausages or bad fruits. Here everything on breakfast were good & tasty. Staff -very friendly and useful, helping with print documents. Thank you, IHG

Postives: Hotel aligns with expectation - standard. Cleanliness was good. Great Showers. Strong water pressure, never had to wait for water to get warm. Couldn't figure out the air-con, whether it was on or not, no difference, but fortunately we didn't need it. They have a comfortable waiting area. Good access for buses and taxis. Location access to basic facilities is also good. Breakfast is closer to continental but was buffet. Mini bar available. On site, undercover paid parking available. Less than 5km jog to Torre de Belém.

Negatives: Several rooms were booked using a single account, but each respective room in said booking was edited with the name of each person that would be staying. Somehow this was confused, and our particular booking was mixed up with the original person who made the booking who was staying only for 1 night, where we were staying for 2. We were given the incorrect room and then when we got to the room, it smelled of cigarette smoke, even though this is a non-smoking hotel and the room had just been 'cleaned': We called to rectify the issue and we told they would sort out the situation for us. We wait for more than 30 minutes - nothing was communicated. Went down to reception again to inquire, and we saw the lady that we had spoken to leaving after her shift. Nobody had or was resolving our issue. After the gentleman who was working there was brought to attention, this was when we realised we were given the wrong room and he promptly resolved the mix up. Unfortunately, when we headed to our "new" room, the lady was still cleaning. Mind you, this whole time, we're busy pulling our luggage back and forth throughout this hotel. The lady informed us that no one had told her that the room needed to be available, assuming because of the whole mix-up. Fortunately, we knew someone else staying there and while we waited for the room to be straightened up, we waited in theirs. This just made the whole experience worse because travelling to the hotel itself had it's own problems so we had hoped the hotel was going to be a kind of refuge from all that but alas, that wasn't the case.

Nonetheless, after that, everything was...
