This is a decent accomodation for the rate they charge. If you're looking to be waited on, this is not the place for you.||||We stayed here for two nights and honestly, I don't think we could have done better. I was a bit worried when we first arrived, but I needn't have: Bernardino materialized seemingly from nowhere, opened the door for us once he realized we were his guests and then handed over the keys after helping us up the stairs with our luggage.||||This is a former townhouse that has been converted into a guesthouse for tourists. Our room faced the front and was quite large and could easily accomodate four people (one double, a twin, and collapsible sofa bed). Decor is very basic. Bathroom is all up to date. It is not handicapped accessible, and there are a lot of stairs. It is very quiet and clean. The street it is located on is pedestrian only, so you do not need to worry about car noise.||||There is a communal refrigerator and microwave for your use, but the room it is in was locked up after a certain time. So I do wish that there were some basic dishes and flatware we could have used--or even that the room was accessible around the clock.||||It is centrally located--minutes of a walk to the local bus/train station, down the street from the main square, a block or less away from the funicular to Santa Luzia. There's a supermarket about three blocks away and several restaurants.||||Note regarding the underground parking lot--there are three or four pedestrian access points and at least two vehicle entrances/exits. You can very definitely score a parking spot for €5. As soon as you have parked, you need to take your ticket to the manned "blue" booth. If you wait longer than fifteen minutes, then you will be charged by their hourly rates. But have it validated quickly and you are set at €5 for 24 hours.||||I would definitely...
Read moreWe had a very bad experience with the host Bernardino. Here is the story: We walked Camino and made a reservation a month ago at €80 for a 4-person room through a pilgrim app. The host refused to take the payment in advance. He insisted that we confirm the stay several times by WhatsApp, including the day before arrival. But when we arrived at him, he said there is no room for us at that price, instead he can offer 2 double rooms at €140 price. It was very frustrating to find out that he will not keep the agreement, after a 25 km walk. The man was very rude and obviously cheated on us. My guess is he gives fake early prices and relies on accepting his extortion when you don't have many options. We refused and luckily found a much better stay at a better price! For sure that is not the right way to make fair business, especially with pilgrims! Bernardino is a disgrace to all pleasant hosts we met at Camino...
Read moreAvoid this guest house at all costs - worst service!! The extremely rude old man at the reception started yelling and insulting us the moment we arrived. Despite having already paid for our stay, he told us we were not allowed to check in, saying that he didn’t want “people like us” as guests and that we should never come back. When we asked for our money back, he even threatened to call the police – for what reason, I have no idea.
This is by far the most unfriendly and hostile treatment I have ever experienced in hospitality. To this day, we have not received a refund, and since there were no other accommodations available, we were left to sleep on the street.
This man should absolutely not be working in this job and should be dismissed immediately. I strongly recommend every traveler to stay far away from this place and book a different...
