By far the best accommodation option in the city of Viana, in what I believe is the last step towards the opening of numerous hostels/hotels and other tourism-related establishments along with the entire logistic effort that inevitably comes with a touristic boom which I'm certain will happen in the city of Viana just like it happened in Porto or Braga. The staff is friendly and, above all, professional, 24 hours available, serious and trustworthy, the cleaning conditions are excellent, the space is more than large, the facilities are in excellent condition of preservation and functionality, and unlike other not-so-serious accommodations/hostels they DO have a breakfast, and not just any breakfast: it's very good and complete. Someone who complains about that or any other aspect in this accommodation either has some personal or intellectual issues or is being dishonest. All this comes at an incredibly fair and low price when compared to what happens in other accomodations in this and other cities.
This place truly is an unexpected and surprising positive exception to the mainstream accomodation offers at this point and state of things. I truly recommend this to any type of traveller, or group of travellers. If you're looking for a place to stay in Viana for one night or several nights, this is the place to stay, don't...
Read moreUsed the hostel to visit a pal who lives in the town, in early January 2018. It looks modern from the outside but has a 1970's feel inside. Continental breakfast is offered in with the nightly price. It has a self catering kitchen which wasn't fully operational at the time of my visit. Hostel manager told me the hostel is very popular with walkers on the Caminho de Santiago do Compostela in the warmer months of the year. There are a couple of good small supermarkets in the centre of town and one or two historical sites to visit. The town has a combined bus and train station. There is a branch of Santander in the town, not far from the hostel,...
Read moreFirst the good: The reception clerks were super friendly and accommodating. The location is great, right next to the river and just 1km from the center. Then the bad: The rooms are degraded enough, especially the beds that creak even when you just blink and there's no ceiling lights, just some small lamps! Bring mosquito repellent or those electric mosquito insecticide things or they will suck you dry!
The rest is OK or...
