Hotel Do Parque — Hotel in Viana do Castelo

We stayed for 2 weeks in this hotel and have no complaints what so ever.|The room was comfortable and clean, the only issue possibly is that the balconies are small. The bed was the standard twin that seems increasingly popular but very comfortable. One of my personal bugbears is air conditioning, for a gent from Scotland to get a good nights sleep I need a cool room fortunately the AC was up to this unlike other hotels I have stayed in.|The common area is very well presented although the bar is expensive and has limited choice. |I always found the staff very helpful and attentive, always willing to help.|Breakfast is continental style buffet with a great choice of meats cheeses etc, along with bacon sausage and scrambled egg. With the restaurant being on the 6 th floor the view was excellent over the river while you leisurely had breakfast. |The hotel is just a short walk into town, and I would highly recommend it, if visiting here again it would be the first I checked...

Be aware at this hotel. I stayed here in September 2023. I left my phone in my locked hotel room while I got breakfast on the upper floor. The internet is always cutting out at the hotel (honestly, you'd get a minute before having to sign up again) so I made a decision to not take my phone as I knew I wouldn't be getting internet while at breakfast. When I came back, my phone was gone. I am sure it was stolen by one of the house keepers (it ended up in the hands of a reseller). I communicated with the hotel front desk upon check out, as well as followed up with 2 emails since we've returned to the US. In my communication, all I wanted to know was whose key was used to gain entrance within a time frame. I warned the hotel that I would be writing reviews based on their response of how they handled the stolen phone. I have not gotten any response...

I entered the room, the presentation was good but the bed was kinda dirty, the pillows had hair on it. My fiancee said that her pillow smelled like someone's perfume. The towels were not properly folded. Looked like they didn't change the sheets after the last guests. In the middle of the night, someone knocked the door and they shoved a door handle paper thingy under the door. You know, these paper saying occupied/clean the room. What poor management overall. In the balcony there was no ashtray overall, there was a plastic cup from previous guests. The whole night there was noise from children who just didn't SU, bad parenting right there. The thing is, there are no soundproof walls between rooms, no privacy overall. I stayed only for one night and thank God, couldn't take it more.
