I had the privilege of staying at Origine Porto Gaia, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, on its very first day open, and I couldn’t be more impressed! From the moment I arrived, the warm welcome from the incredible staff and management made me feel right at home. You could sense their excitement and pride in opening this beautiful property, and that energy was contagious.

The hotel is in a perfect location — just a short walk to Gaia’s historic downtown and the scenic Porto riverside, where you can explore the charming streets, local cafés, and iconic wine cellars. It’s the ideal base to enjoy both the history and beauty of this incredible city.

Inside, the property is stunning — a seamless blend of modern elegance and authentic Portuguese charm. Every detail, from the design to the atmosphere, shows how much thought and care went into creating this special place.

The management team went above and beyond to ensure my comfort, making me feel like a valued guest from the very start. Opening days can be challenging, but here everything ran flawlessly — a true testament to the dedication and passion of the entire team.

From the moment we entered the hotel, the service has been impeccable. We were welcomed with a glass of port, a lovely welcome treat in the room and turn down service with chocolates - they made us feel so special. I cannot say enough about the staff, everyone was lovely and every request we made was addressed attentively and quickly. The heated outdoor pool was the perfect sunset viewing spot and the food from the restaurant was great. The attention to detail in the rooms is noticeable, and they make the most of the space. Bathrooms were great, and the shower was awesome. Loved loved loved our experience as this tribute property. If you come to Porto, staying on the Gaia side of the river is the way to go. Quieter, still great restaurants along the water, more reasonable prices and just a romantic spot to be. And the walk over the bridge if you do want to hit the Porto side is minutes away. STUNNINGLY decorated hotel with sweeping views of Porto. Likely one of, if not, the most beautiful hotels we have personally stayed in where you simply want to pinch yourself while sitting at the pool drinking a Porto and Tonic asking yourself, “Is this picturesque view in this picturesque hotel real?” The hotel is situated in an area called Gaia, which is just across the river from Porto. Porto is completely overrun by tourists, even when we were there in October, so staying here gave us reprieve from the tour groups while only being just a 10 minute or so walk to be in the center of the action. This area appears to be growing rapidly and if you meander down the stairs close by, you’ll end up in small winding streets with little restaurants dotted here and there plus an area called World of Wine (WOW) that has plenty of options.
