(English/한국어) Superb restaurant, excellent food, wonderful service!! Hesitating at the entrance, we met an elderly Portuguese lady leaving. My friend asked her how it was and she right away said the food was good and it wasn't expensive. We sit in, the waitress served the usual appetizer plates clearly explaining these are optotional and not free. Many restaurants don't even mention it so lots of tourists fall in the trick, take some thinking it's free then ended up paying for it.(generally not so expensive though.) We ordered some other appetizers then main dish, seafood rice(Arroz de Marisco-29.98€/2ps). The plate was huge, full of assorted seafood. Despite being both of us quite big eaters, we could not finish it all. Easily for 3-4 persons portion! Apart from the more than generous portion, the seafood were fresh and very tasty! The serving ladies were kind and friendly with genuinely nice smile. One of them offered us "Aguardente", the typical Portiguese digestif when she noticed we were 'sufferring' from ridiculously stuffing ourselves!! :-) Will definitely go back there next time when I go to Porto.

On a windy Porto evening, we wandered down the quieter alleys of Vila Nova de Gaia, dodging the rowdy riverside crowds and following our noses (and Jo’s instincts) to Nov`Adega - a local gem that feels like it’s been there forever, quietly feeding the neighbourhood with love and offal.
Inside, it’s all wood-panelled warmth, with locals greeting each other by name, and the kind of atmosphere where you’re a stranger for about five minutes. The owner himself runs the show, and before long, we were being treated like long-lost cousins who finally made it to dinner.
We went full tripeiro and ordered the Tripas à Moda do Porto - a dish born of 1415 sacrifice, when the city gave its best meat to the sailors and kept the tripe for themselves. And let me tell you, they’ve been making magic out of offal ever since. The bean stew was rich, warm, and comforting, like something your mother would make if she had centuries of culinary wisdom and a really good stock pot.
Then came the Chouriço Assado, fired at the table, sizzling and crisping like it was auditioning for a food show. It was smoky, spicy, and exactly what you want when the wind’s howling outside.
Verdict: Nov`Adega is authentic Porto comfort, where the food tells stories, the service feels like family, and the tripas are a tribute to resilience. Highly recommended for offal lovers, history buffs, and anyone who wants to eat like a local - with a side of sizzling...
Read moreThis unassuming restaurant is situated on a quiet side street away from the main drag where restaurants with wide terraces are occupied by rowdy people who just want to drink and be seen. We enjoyed the service and the quaintness of the outdoor terrace. The food was good and priced accordingly. The appetizers were presented to the table as soon as we sat down. You can pick the dishes you want or none at all. We chose the salt cod fritters, Portuguese ham, and garlic mussels. The other dish was assortment of cheese, which we didn’t want. For entree, we share a plate of grilled sardines. The sardines were fresh and have just the right amount of seasoning and rich briny profile. The red wine recommended by the complimented the...
