I share my recent experience when visiting Doha, Qatar for the FIFA World Cup. |I am an Omani National woman and I booked the New Blue Rose Hotel on the 15th November through booking.com and I made sure to select a hotel that had free cancellation and direct payment! My booking was for 2 nights from the 5th Dec (which means I booked ahead of time). |On that same day of arrival in the morning I called the hotel and spoke to someone by the name of Alona to check that everything is confirmed and she said yes and even gave me the hotel mobile number (+974 3374 2270) to forward our passport copies to ensure we have a smooth checkin and I made sure to say we will arrive late after 11pm. When I was in the plane I received a WhatsApp message with an attachment saying that our booking of 2 rooms is confirmed and the billing instructions said (cash - direct payment). |When we arrived at the hotel after midnight I could see the receptionist (a philipino lady) panicking and told us to sit for a bit. I gave her few minutes then went back to the desk and asked again then the manager came out and his name is : Mohammed Wahib a Lebanese National. |I will state this I have travelled so many times and went to countless hotels and never ever seen such a rude and unprofessional person let alone as he kept on calling himself (I am the manager of the hotel!) he did not respect us not only as guests but human being and kept saying itâs your fault that we arrived after midnight so the booking is cancelled. I told him I was clear that we will arrive after 11pm and you even sent us a WhatsApp confirming our booking but again he was so rude and I said I will make sure to comment on TripAdvisor and he told me to my face if you do so I will take you out of this hotel!! |I then decided to look for another hotel and as I was looking online a man totally drunk came in the hotel and used an abusive word and both the security and manager just left him talk to us like this until the security realized how upset we were and took him out. I was so fortunate to find a really nice hotel (Hilton) which was just a walking distance away and also cheaper. |I hope that not only my awful experience will be seen by many travelers but also the concerned authorities in Qatar as this act does not represent us Arabs in the GCC at all and actually most countries too. We are proud of our humble heritage and respect is key and obviously Mohammed Wahib is not aware of this and is definitely in the...
Read moreThere have to be much better hotels in Doha. Take my advise and look for a different one. ||1. I could not pay for the hotel on arrival. I got an email saying I had to pay in advance and they can only take accept a bank transfer and not a credit card. Why can they just the payment when you book online. I prefer to pay by credit card for hotels but I couldn't. |2. A front desk employee came knocking on our door while I was in the middle of getting dressed and would not leave until I answered the door. He said he had to confirm our reservation. I am like what? We are already in the room and we paid a week ago so I still have no idea what he wanted from me. I called down and spoke with another employee and she said I have no idea why he went to your room. Very strange. |3. We were given a handicapped room. (neither of us are) The bathroom was terrible and the smell was nauseating. It looked so old and dirty too. |4. There was no hot water to take a shower. I was not happy I had to freeze while taking both my showers. |5. There one only one towel in the bathroom and no soap. (we were delivered those after asking) |6. There was loud noise and music until 3am from the nightclub. (my own fault for not reading there was one there before I booked but I still wanted to mention it) |7. We paid a a a lot of money for our room and I really feel like we were ripped off. So I rate the value for money of this hotel a one star. ||Thank you...
