STĂVILAR — Hotel in Sinaia

We visited Sinaia briefly for the castles and stayed here as it was a short walk to them. It's a nice building, but the front desk isn't manned, another guest ran off to get someone for us both when we checked in and tried to check out. Restaurant staff double as the front desk staff and are always out back too. Some are less pleasant than others. The room is serviceable, if small, but the bed throw was dirty. The beds were very uncomfortable, I spent the night tossing and turning unfortunately. ||The food wasn't great, and similar prices to other (better) restaurants nearby. Breakfast was included in our room, there was a choice of 4 breakfast options of which all were a bit of an odd mix; we were told if we wanted any changes we would have to pay. ||Overall the hotel was very pretty from the outside, especially in winter. Stayed for 4 nights, had a room at the upper floor. ||||Location is great, near Peles castle, near a small stream.||||The room is clean but looks a bit worn out, sheets are clean (yet have a few stains that did not cleaned properly), the blanket on the sofa looks old. The mattress was new. The floor is squeaky (in the hallway and in the rooms), and you can hear when people come late at the hotel. ||||The heating was working and it was nice and cosy, there was hot water at the shower. Shower cabin had a bit of mold.||||The staff is really nice and helpful. There are four options for breakfast, we enjoyed the omelet with cheese and ham. Good breakfast. Not so happy that all the frying smell from the kitchen would get in the restaurant. ||||Wifi is great, good connection, good speed from everywhere in the hotel (and around it)....

I recently stayed here while attending a congress.|On the plus side:|- close to Sinaia Casino and Peles Castle|- fairly clean|- nice architecture from the outside|On the down side:|- the rooms are very dated and boring. And when i say boring i don't mean i should be entertained by the room, but they look like student lodges or hostel rooms and have no charm|- if you come back later in the evening you have to cross the big parking lot of the hotel + restaurant IN THE DARK. There are even signs to beware of wild animals like boars and bears.|- the carpet is very stained... no idea from what.|- i had 2 small bugs.|I wouldn' t...
