i can see why this hostel is ranked high, i could have had a good experience over there, but a disaster happened.
i was sleeping in a room with some hostel volunteers (most of them were super nice), first i booked for 3 nights, before the 3rd i went to the lady in the reception and asked to extend, she said i could do it but will have to move a room because they had to clean the room i was in, sounds ok.
the next day i woke up full of bedbugs bites, turns out one of the volunteers noticed bed bugs in the room and moved to a different room with another volunteer, but no one told me this and the hostel left me in this room despite knowing they have bed bugs there - both the volunteer and the receptionist, they didn't even tell some of the other volunteers in the room!!
the next day i moved my bag and clothes to the new room, and it's possible that i moved the bed bugs with me, because they didn't tell me about them.
once i found out what happened i got really mad, i must say that they were fine from that point, they gave me my money back and washed all of my clothes (they shrinked most of them though... don't do laundry there), they even offered me to stay in the hostel for free but there was no way i was staying there for one more moment, i went to JugendStube hostel that was great.
the staff just didn't understand the importance of bed bugs, and the boss wasn't around at the time. bed bugs is one of the worst things that can happen to a traveller, because it sucks and makes you weak for days, and of you are not letting the traveller know he'll spread the bed bugs.
another bad thing is the horrible smell of cigarettes from the hallway, not only from the hostel but the other businesses in this building.
for some reason I can't leave a review of the hostel in Hostelworld despite booking and paying through the app, i think the hostel might be trying to avoid...
Read moreNice hostel, located in the city center of Braşov. Clean. Really nice a book they have with all the recomendations and how to get there by public transport. Just little lack of organization/presence.
ROOMS: the rooms are big and spacious, with bunk beds. Small light and plugs close to the bed. Linen includes. Also there was a desk and some chairs.
BATHROOMS: There was 1 bathroom for the room (13 beds). Hot water and good pressure. Also there were toilettes in the hostel's bar.
KITCHEN: Kitchen was in the hostel's bar. Most part of the items were for cooking huge amounts of food (bar), so maybe it would be nice to add more small pans and pots. Fridge and freezer. Also there is another fridge and freezer in the hostel reception.
COMMON SPACES: There is a common space in the reception, with some couches. Also at the bar, there is space.
FACILITIES: sheets and towel included. Lockers in the bedroom, with key. There was washing machine and dryer.
Hostel not suitable for people with reduced mobility, long stairs...
Read moreStay out of this hostel. I booked a room for me and my girlfriend few days before arriving to Brasov, but when we arrived to the place in the evening the girl in the reception told us that they don't see our reservation and they don't have any rooms left. It is important to mention that we had a confirmation email from booking that the room is reserved for us, and although I'm traveling a lot this was the only time ever something like that happened to me. The girl in the reception didn't really care about our situation and she only blamed Booking. We had to leave the city in the middle of the night to find another place since the city was fully booked because it was a weekend. Also my girlfriend asked to use the toilet and one of the workers who was near us and knew our situation told her that it's only for people who are staying in the hostel. Even if the error was not on the hostel fault (which I find really hard to believe) there is still a way to...
