This is a very special thing you can find in St. Petersburg--not in Moscow!--called "mini-hotel". It could be called B&B but it does not occupy separate building or separate house of a few rooms. Mini-hotels in St. Petersburg usually occupy one floor in big apartment buildings called "income houses". They were built more than 100 years ago, so they are old and do not have an elevator. Nevsky Inn is one of many such mini-hotels you can find in the center of St. Petersburg and around. What does make it special? Location: you cannot beat it! It is not "close" to everything--it is in the very center of everything! Metro station "Admiralteiskaia" is right across the street (you can count your steps to the hotel's door), Nevsky Prospect is around the corner; 5 min. to the Hermitage, Palace Square and the Neva River with its draw bridges (you can go and see them open at night, and you do not need to worry about getting taxi or private driver to get back to the hotel at 2:00 AM--it is just a short and safe walk). You can easy get by foot to the St. Isaak's Cathedral, Church on Spilled Blood, Grand Philharmonic Hall, Russian Museum, theaters, shops, cafes, restaurants...And if you are lucky with the weather, nothing can be better than exploring the city by foot: with Nevsky Inn's location it is very easy to do! Another nice thing--the hotel itself: cosy, clean, with kitchen and dining room where they serve hot breakfast for you at your convenient time in the morning; staff is very friendly and helpful (thank you, Elena and Natasha, for being such wonderful hosts!); rooms are clean and spacious, and in spite of being in the epicenter of the vibrant and busy city, it is very quiet at night! Add very reasonable rates, and you would not need to look for any better! The only reason I did not give 5 stars to Nevsky Inn is that you need to take your luggage to the 4th floor, and there is no elevator...after all, you would need to do it only twice: when you arrive, and when you are leaving :-) Highly recommend, and would be happy to stay...

Read moreMy wife and I spent 4 nights at Nevsky Inn ll in early June. The guests rooms are situated in an old historical building, like the majority of the buildings in St Petersburg. The Nevsky Inn suite of rooms is just a small slice of this large residential building, where typical families and citizens of St Pete live their lives. A plain, un-signed metal door on the street leads to a large, dim inner foyer and old stone staircase that looks out over a slightly run-down inner courtyard. Our first impression was that maybe we should have stayed at a "regular" hotel, however, once inside and situated we were very pleased with our choice. Not only is the inn is an excellent value in an expensive city, but somehow staying at the Nevsky made it feel like we were actually living in St Pete as opposed to just visiting here. Our room was larger than expected, spotlessly clean and the beds were very comfortable. The staff (there were 2 different women on hand during our stay) were very friendly and accommodating and although their English was limited we had fun communicating and enjoyed all our interactions. Breakfast is served each morning in the small kitchen, and the offerings are relatively basic but tasty and plentiful (our only complaint about the Nevsky overall was that for some reason smoking is allowed in the kitchen, although all the rooms and other common areas are non-smoking). As far as location, the Nevsky II would be hard to beat; across the street from a metro stop and small grocery and just minutes from some of the city's biggest attractions, right in the heart of the action. We highly recommend the Nevsky Inn and would stay here again...
