I am compelled to share the horrendous experience I endured at this hotel, a cautionary tale for all potential guests. This establishment not only failed in providing basic hospitality but also resorted to deplorable tactics to extort money from guests.||||Upon attempting to retrieve my stored luggage, I was blindsided with an accusation of smoking in the room, a claim as baseless as it was sudden. The hotel demanded an outrageous fee of 15,000 Rubles, holding my belongings hostage. However, this was just the beginning of a nightmare. Without warning, the charge mysteriously escalated to 50,000 Rubles as my card was charged, a stark revelation of the hotel's unscrupulous nature.||||In the ensuing battle for justice, the hotel's facade crumbled, exposing a litany of lies and deceit. Despite our efforts to resolve the matter through legal channels and with the assistance of Qunar.com and Chinese Embassy in Russia, the hotel's responses were evasive and contradictory. Initially, they denied the charges, then failed to provide any receipt linking the transaction to their establishment, and finally, resorted to citing non-existent policies to justify their actions.||||It's important to note that at no point did we smoke in the room, nor was this accusation mentioned during checkout. The hotel failed to produce any evidence of smoking or justify the exorbitant fee they extracted under false pretenses.||||This experience has left me with nothing but disdain for this establishment. I am grateful for the support from Qunar.com and the embassy, which helped mitigate this unjust situation to some extent. However, the ordeal has exposed the hotel's true colors, marked by greed and a complete disregard for guest rights. Potential guests, consider yourselves warned. This hotel's practices are not only unethical but repulsively...
Read moreFirstly the good points....friendly and helpful lobby and reception staff. Large room. Good location for Red Square and Cafe Pushkin.||Now the disappointing parts.....lobby area looks like a 2 star hotel. The staff uniforms look very downmarket, the light switches in the rooms are too complicated, if you need glasses, you’ll need them every time you want to turn a light on or off. The bathroom, although large, only has an over bath shower. A ‘city view’ room is not actually a view into the city, but of Pushkin Square. The service in the bar and at breakfast is excruciatingly slow, even though there was hardly anyone else in there.||I finally need to say about our last evening, 26th Nov, when we went to the bar for a drink before going out for our meal. There was a group of older Italian ‘gentleman’ in there who were entertaining a ‘lady’ (she obviously wasn’t Italian as they were speaking English with her). While we were waiting 20 minutes for our one beer and one cocktail, I noticed one of the ‘gentleman’ and the ‘lady’ leave the bar area, I just assumed they were going to their rooms. When we were about to leave I went to use the ladies, on the way I noticed that there were no rooms on that floor and in fact the only doors were the toilets. I went into the ladies, turned the cubicle light on and locked the door, only then did the noises begin from the other cubicle. Yes, that’s right, that’s where they had gone and were having very loud sex!!!! Classy! Now I know that the hotel can’t be held totally responsible for their guests behaviour, but, I’m pretty sure all the staff must have known what was going on and, not only did they not call security, but they allowed me to walk into a very compromising situation!||Definitely not a 5 star...
Read moreThis would have been a 5 star review if it wasn’t for one thing. |The hotel itself is very nice. We stayed in a luxe suite on the 7th floor with a view of Pushkin square. Beautiful, huge suite, very tasteful design, nice amenities. Lovely pool/spa area in the hotel. Excellent location. ||I stayed in that room for 2 nights, after which my cousin had to go home. I was planning to check out as well, but I ended up having some minor complications post surgery, and it was best for me to spend one more night there. I downgraded to a regular room. I had a small tote bag with me, which I packed and went to the reception to get a key for a new room. I was told the room was ready, so I immediately went upstairs and left my bag there. A couple of hours later my iPhone was running out of battery. I went to fetch my charger only to realize that it was not in my bag. I contacted reception and let them know that I left my charger in the previous room, and to please have it returned to me. Truly, there was no other place for it to be, as my phone was being charged over night. I was told they’d check, but after a couple of hours told me that the charger was not found. I said that it is unfortunate finding out that their personnel would steal things. The receptionist looked at me and said “a simple iPhone charger? You really think it’s worth it?” I asked if she thought that petty theft was ok, she said no, but it is not worth a complaint. It cost me $86 to replace the items that were not returned to me. ||As much as I love the location and enjoyed my stay at the hotel up to this point, I won’t be...
