On our second night in the hotel, there was a party in the bar/restaurant. We (my wife and our two small kids) were staying on the first floor, almost right above the restaurant. There was a loud music and a lot of noise. T&C of the hotel allow no loud noise between 22:00 - 06:00. Gods may do what cattle may not.
First we visited the reception around 23:30 (unoccupied). Then we called them and explained we felt very disturbed, we had kids sleeping there and we would like them to lower the noise and that we would hate to escalate it. The staff was arrogant and basically would act only if instructed by the manager (Mr. Andrej Cechuty) who was not present. Mr. Cechuty didn't answer my calls and hardly replied with some lies to my message. But he didn't instruct the staff to lower the noise. We went down multiple times and we have always been told some silly story which they knew we would not believe anyway, something like "we will close all doors now, it will be OK". Around 02:00 in the morning I called the police. Even after the police arrived at 02:15, they tried to keep the party going on, the staff on site only stopped after the manager called them and instructed them to do so. Only after he got a call from the policeman on site. BIG THANK YOU to the two guys from the City Police.
To be fair, the receptionist (of course, after Mr. Cechuty told him to) offered us a room on a higher floor. I told him I appreciated it, but as our kids were sleeping, we refused to move out. It was disturbing just for my wife and myself.
The next morning there was another arrogant guy at the reception (the one that never greets). As I returned the key from the room he started saying something about the incident and that they want to apologize (probably again instructed by the almighty Mr. Cechuty). You know, it is always the way you say it. Between the lines it was something like, "there was this incident last night, you ruined the party but OK, we decided to say sorry. Of course we don't mean we are sorry, we just think you might want to hear it". I am sorry for that but I exploded and told him that after they treated us like idiots, his apology can't be sincere and at this point he can kiss my a**.
I consider the money burned, we would never return to this hotel again, but we are escalating this with the local police.
The other cons (I am biased, look for pros somewhere else):
Parking lot - always fully occupied by the guests of the restaurant. Be prepared to park on the street (for a fee).
Reception: most of the team would not greet you (nor much older guests).
Restaurant: Not the best value for money. The waiter put a carafe of tap water with lemon on the table and then charged us 1.50 EUR for that. We would have ordered it anyway, but it should be our decision, no hidden fees.
The room: the sealant in shower tray should be replaced (brrrrr). The extra bed we asked for was a horrible folding bed. There were two bars of the metal frame right in the middle, I literally felt them under my back and there was no way how to position yourself on the bed. And they charged extra 20EUR/night for it. Mr. Cechuty, if you put the word BOUTIQUE in the name of the hotel, you have to deliver. Perhaps you didn't notice, but there is a difference between being arrogant and self confident! Apart of the incident, there was not enough bang for the buck. Now we are hungry for your view. Please tell us how big misunderstanding it was and perhaps if I hadn't exploded and sent your colleague to hell, he would have given us a voucher for the weekend in your best room and magnum bottle of Pol Roger. The floor is yours...
Edit on 22AUG2018 12:30 / Reply to Mr. Cechuty's view:
This hotel is called Boutique (!!) Hotel Maraton (14 rooms only), but it is a nightmare. On our second night in the hotel, there was a party in the bar/restaurant. Read moreWe spent three night there. The porter mentioned at the checkin that there were two weiiding till 11, also said it could last longer. They did. We came to Kosice for the marathon so it was not ideal listening to to bass before the race. Anyway it think a hotel should decide what is important for itself. As I read in previous reviews it was not a unique occasion. The room itself was huge but there was not much natural light. The beds were too soft for me. Anyway, there is is a HUGE construction just by the hotel and even during sunfay they worked (not very loud, but uncomfortable). I never understand how it is possible that a hotel serves breakfast from only 8... and some of the foods were cold, the bakery as if feom the fridge. The hotel is close to the city center and the staff eas friendly. The wifi was ok. The hotel was not expensive but very...
