We arrived by bus from Poland in pouring rain, which was quite an adventure, found a taxi (5euro) at the bus depot which took us to the Penzion. There are no conventional street names in Tatranska Lomnica and there is little English spoken which makes the Penzion very tricky to find. It is probably a good 15-20min walk from the train and bus station. The Penzion is a very new building, attractively set amid a lawned area with a neat, well cared for garden and situated near the foot of the second highest peak 'Lomnicky Stit'. ||The rooms at the Pension are modern, spotless, generous in size, newly furnished and very comfortable. ||Cable internet is free, flatscreen TV with CNN, hairdryer and iron available on request. There is a refrigerator in the room, king size bed and a small balcony. The cable car station to the top of Lomnicky Stit is visible from the balcony and is a short walk from the Penzion. Breakfast is included - despite being the only residents for 2 of our 3 night stay, we were still provided with a freshly cooked breakfast each morning.||Almost opposite the cable car station car park is the Humno Music Pub which is an interesting weathered timber chalet style building with some quirky features, it is worth a look. They serve meals, coffee, hot chocolate etc||We arrived at the end of May before the National Park officially opened to tourists so it was fairly quiet with very few International travellers to be seen. Walk up to the White Church where you will pass some very attractive open parkland in the centre of the town which at the end of May was brimming with alpine flowers, copses of silver birch trees in new leaf and small, fast running streams. The Tatra Electric railway runs regular services from Tatranska Lomnica to Stary Smokovec to Strbske Pleso. You can change trains at Stary Smokovec and go to Poprad which has an attractive small town centre. Enjoy the view of the Tatras as you travel to and from Poprad.||The accommodation was very reasonably priced and I had no problems making the booking ...
Read moreWhat a marvellous hotel. Exceptionally clean, spacious, well presented double bedroom with a small balcony offering one of the best views of The High Tatras.||We arrived here with little expectations, as the price was very reasonable for this time of the year. We were more than pleasantly surprised when we pulled up to a lovely building, with well manicured gardens and my (almost) 2 year old daughter got very excited at the sight of the mini play area.||Inside was equally impressive with a large wooden reception and bar area with a fine wooden winding staircase.||There were lovely little touches that you wouldn't expect in a hotel, never mind a bed and breakfast. An indoor play area for the children and umbrellas at the entrance next to the doorway.||The bedrooms were airy and the cleanest I have ever seen, not one mark on the walls windows and mirrors. The owners obviously have high standards when it comes to presentation and work ethics of their staff. There was a large double (Queen size) bed in the room, table chairs sofa and bedside tables with lamps. We missed the tea and coffee making facilities, but as I have experienced, this is not typical in most European countries.||The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was substantial, would liked to have seen more fruit, and the internet connection was poor however these were very minor errors and didn't take anything away from the fabulous time we had a Pension Paula. I would highly recommend...
Read moreWe visited this pension in March with our friends and stayed there for 1 night. However it was our 3rd visit and will visit it definitely again if we go to High Tatras.||Location of this pension is really excellent - only meters from slopes of High Tatras, crazy night life and good restaurants.||Pension itself is clean, very well maintained and equipped. Rooms have all you need including balcony with stunning view. If I talk about the view I have to mention the lounge with large windows - I have not seen many places with such a view.||Staff is helpful and tries to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.||The weakest point - breakfast. Variety of food was quite narrow and by the end of the breakfast time there was not much left to eat. ||Regarding night life - it is only few hundred meters from Humno night club which I recommend to visit too.||Overall...
