Bloemfontein Hotel Palm Lodge — Hotel in Free State

Hotel was relatively neat...but glasses and cups in room were not clean and had residue on it...for the value of money a bottle of water cud have been provided ...thus service can be better. We checked in after 6h30.. was shown to room which had open doors..rather peculiar with COVID19.. we settled in and tried to put phones on charge..and plugs didn't work my husband then went to reception as no phones in room.. to be told he will sort out another room... waited and then my husband went back to be asked to bring the kettle as that seems to be issue for others..kettle tested with no issue.. them we asked for solution as its late n we need to rest etx... no solution.. we then went to get supper and asked to have some assistance by time we return ..was offered a dbl bed for 2 adults and a 9year old..we advsied it wud be uncomfortable. And then the guy didn't know how to manage..we asked for a refund as this was Inconvenient then only he said he can call sister lodge then he did that we said well.go eat in room then he can advise ... we then ate n then to be told we can move to another lodge around corner ..at 8pm.. we started packing then my husband said let me ask for an adaptor as we were tired from he drive then it worked as only 1 switch worked ... so we had to time charging all our gadgets..was disappointed with the experience and for a 4 star accommodation expected more..wont recommend the place unless the staff can be more helpful and alert..on departure we had to wait 10mins for them to open the gate after a call...

If only it was possible to rate zero, l would. The carpet is so dirty! upon reporting it, they were so defensive just because when l arrived l requested to be moved to a different move! They said the person complaining about the carpet is the same person who requested to be moved, so l had no right to complain about the dirty carpet in their view. There was even a dead millipede in the room. Me being me l took evidence. Also took pics of the discoloured towels in the room. There pillowcases we dirty and had someoneelse 's hair on it. Its beyond me how this place got a 4 star rating...

I travel a lot for business and my stay at Palm Lodge was really a wonderful experience. The neatness and cleanliness of the room really impressed me, it felt like I was the first person to ever stay in the room. The room had everything I am looking for when travelling, including space where I could sit and work with proper lighting. The friendliness and professionalism of the staff member at reception who was on duty throughout the night and always ready to assist with a smile, whatever my query, greatly contributed to my experience at your establishment.
