Not once but twice! |I am not one for writing reviews for services that should be rendered as a matter of fact. I firmly believe that if you stay in accommodation you should receive a fair and generous service in exchange for the bill. On this occasion it is with great pleasure that I write a very well earned five-star review. |The house itself is beautiful well curated with wonderful facilities and the swimming pool is a surprise and unfortunately I didn't get the chance to use it as I was so busy. However the staff are without a doubt one of the standouts and most remarkable part of this boutique hotel experience. ||I won't bore you with the details of my unusual requirements while I was traveling suffice to say that the staff went above and beyond specifically Sam and Julia to assist me with a very unusual request Julia I remember when home and fetched her personal laptop for me so I could complete a project that came to life while I was on holiday and traveling with out any of my own computers. I stayed in two other five star accommodation properties in Cape Town and had asked if it was possible to borrow a laptop or use a workstation somewhere in the building and was resembly refused it was only at the one Kensington property where the staff helped me to such a level. ||The property felt homely yet sophisticated in the design and the Victorian interiors are beautiful and it is so quiet and peaceful in the house. I slept deeply and comfortably for the first time in a long time traveling...
Read moreThis guest house really is a hidden gem. ||We found it by trawling through all the accommodation in Cape Town on Trip Advisor and felt it ticked all our boxes. The owners and staff met us on arrival and made us feel at home immediately after our long flight from the UK. They arranged collection of us from the airport. We had two rooms with a shared private bathroom for myself, husband and son (room no 1). We even had our own private terrace for enjoying the warm evenings after a hard days sightseeing with a well earned glass of local wine. The breakfasts were bountiful and all super fresh breads, fruits, cereals etc etc etc. The guest house has a pool which is overlooked by Table Top, Lions Head and Signal Hill. The rooms, house and gardens are all immaculately kept. No request was too much trouble from a taxi or travel adapter to checking our collection time for shark diving! There was an honesty bar stocked with chilled wine, beer, juice and water. We felt like the house was ours and felt very comfortable in it. The house is situated underneath Table Top in a lovely quiet suburb, but within walking distance of many good eateries and a short taxi ride to the waterfront and other sights. We did not feel threatened at any time during our stay in Cape Town even when walking home from a restaurant in the evening.||There were a mixture of nationalities staying at the house.||We stayed for a week over Christmas.||We would highly recommend this guest house for families and couples. It ticked...
Read moreWe had the most comfortable stay at One Kensington. The property is beautifully renovated, bright and airy while retaining its old-world charm. There are beautiful views of Lion’s Head and Signal Hill and the location was very continent, only a short drive to Camps Bay and the Waterfront and walking distance to Kloof Street. The breakfast lounge area was also wonderfully cosy and we spent a lovely evening relaxing by the fire. ||The room we stayed in had stunning high ceilings and was again beautifully done up. It was very clean and we had amazing sleep on the comfortable bed. ||Everyone at the hotel was so warm and welcoming. Felt like going home to a warm hug every day after all our activities. ||Cannot wait to...
