I've been to Dark Horse many times. Tonight we arrived at around 11p.m given they close at 01a.m (the reason we picked the place after a birthday party ended). We sat outside and at 11:50, after buying a last round of wine, abruptly got told that we had 10 minutes to drink it. We were not loud or derserved of an early exit. Anyway, Lloyd, the manager, came out ten minutes later with chains, getting ready to lock down our table and told us to leave. We asked why, given they advertised that they were open until 01a.m and that we were almost done in any way after the pressure he placed on us to drink our wine. What a horrible experience. There was no reasoning with this guy and he would have seen we had three sips of wine left by 00:05. After years of going there, that was the last. Also kudos for the table next to us that gave us lip while being allowed to remain in...

I've always only been to The Dark Horse for a quick drink before moving onto dinner. It took friends from JHB to suggest meeting there for something to eat before I realized there was even a menu board on the wall! 😁

And oh my goodness - What have I been missing! Their tapas dishes are well portioned and out-of-this-world tasty, with a nice variety to choose from. My definite favorites were the thick cut chips and the pulled pork bitterballen.

The bar / restaurant was not as full as I usually experience it, so I cannot comment on how efficient the food service would be if it was full. But on our evening out, the food actually arrived quicker than our drinks order.

One can sit outside facing the street on bar chairs, inside on couches and benches, or upstairs with breath taking views of the mountain. Nice...

Firstly, the decor is amazing, I love looking at literally everything. The food options also look great. The waiters are nice, but there are ladies working behind the bar who are so arrogant, that I have given up, would much rather go ANYWHERE else (and in Kloof Street, there plenty of options). It's been over a year or 2, that I have gone to The Dark Horse on multiple occasions. If sitting outside with a waiter assisting, it's fine, but the second I go to the bar and have to ask for anything, the attitude is unwelcoming and very much unhelpful (again, this isn't a once off occurrence). After the last time was during March, with two blonde ladies behind the bar: I definitely won't be...

Cape Town has a lot to offer, but this is one place that I will consistently keep on the list! Lloyd is one of this City’s BEST barmen, his cocktails will rock your socks off, honestly insanely good! My personal faves are the lemon drop martini, the whiskey sours and the aperol sours will make you go to heaven twice 🔥👌🏻 and some say that house of machines has the best old fashioned in town, but i dare you to come try Lloyd’s take!! Cannot recommend them anymore, try it you wont be disappointed!!!

I really enjoy this place! The atmosphere, the food, the views, it's all great! It is essential to book if you want a rooftop view. Also some of the cocktails on the board downstairs, are not on the menu, so it's important to look at that before proceeding to the rooftop. I really recommend this place. I'll be going back again and again.
