Tamboerswinkel — Restaurant in Gardens

As a long-time resident of Cape Town, I often go out to eat and drink at restaurants all around the Cape. A surprisingly large number of establishments feel like they are not a genuine, professional business, but rather a fun side-gig being run by friends, for friends.

This is exactly how we feel about this place.

We came to this restaurant at 7:25 AM this morning, and ordered two fresh fruit juices. We were told that they are unable to make any juice, because they had run out of ingredients. At 7:25 AM in the morning!

This is not the first time that we have had this experience at this particular place.

It demonstrates a complete lack of professionalism and competence in managing the basics of a restaurant. It is impossible not to have sufficient ingredients to make juice first thing in the morning, if you have properly managed your stock levels.

So, once again, a complete waste of time at another unprofessional Cape Town...

This deli and wine bar, located in the picturesque Tamboerskloof district of Cape Town, offers an extensive menu of both sweet and savory dishes, as well as a wide selection of wines from all over the world. Chose here because we got ignored at Peppertree. Public holiday and clearly understaffed. The guys were honestly trying their best but needed help. Barista was clearing tables and trying to take orders as well as make the coffees. The only other team member had to try be behind the bar as well as the floor and at 1130am it was too much. We never got water for our table or wifi we requested when we ordered. Saw customers leave after waiting a while at the counter. Saw food and drinks sat waiting to be run.
