Kelkiewyn Waterkloof Guesthouse — Hotel in Gauteng

I chose to book here because of all the great reviews, but I was disappointed.

When I booked, I specifically asked if there was secure parking, and I was told that I would be able to park behind a locked gate, but this was not the case. Parking is on an open driveway with street access. Despite being in an access controlled area, I would not consider this to be secure.

The area is very quiet and peaceful and the garden was absolutely lovely. The room was very spacious and spotlessly clean. I don't usually walk around barefoot in hotels or guesthouses, but I did not feel the least bit squeamish about taking off my shoes. Neither did I worry about germs in the bathroom, or kitchenette. Cleanliness gets a ten out of ten from me.

The room we had did not have a mirror or table where I could do my hair, and since we were there for an event, that was quite important. There is a mirror above the basin in the bathroom, but nowhere to plug in a hairdryer.

We could not sleep, because outside is very well lit at night, and we had very bright light coming through between the wall and the blinds right in our faces the whole night. This, along with worrying about the car resulted in extreme fatigue the following day at our event.

I cannot rate the service, because we left very early the following day and did not come into contact with any staff, other than when...

We stayed a week at Kelkiewyn Guest House and could not have enjoyed it more. We were walk-in arrivers as our then-current stay at another guest house was proving disappointing. Amanda, Paula, Garnet, and Stella were extremely welcoming and made us feel right at home. The main common area included a fireplace, braai area, and wine fridge which gave the feeling of a home away from home. We also stayed in two units which were connected to one another with a shared common area which made for some lovely late night conversations. Additionally, the staff check in on you daily and will ensure that every need is taken care of whether it be doing your laundry or ordering you dinner to your room.
